I try to have at least half of the people as level 30s for the same reasons - the problem we have is thats its hard to luck into level 30 and hard raid is a good way to do it, but once people are 30 and have the hard raid specific items theres little there to keep them trying it when the normal raid will do for drops - so those up-and-coming level 29s have to be utilised to make up numbers.
Most interesting thing I notice is people get very complacent when over-levelled on the normal raid that when they try hard raid (or the normal with a 26 alt) they seem to forget the naunces or plainly haven't understood them...
A raid experienced level 29 is very useful, but experience isnt just the number of raids you've completed

We did well yesterday mate, thanks for having me. Still finding it funny that we cleared Atheon twice so quickly with the epic rocket spam, when we spent so much time on it on Friday!
No, no - thanks for being there as it was just cobbled together at the last minute as I really didn't want to leave that checkpoint to be refreshed without at least coming up with a logical method to get him down.
Really think it was the break and fresh mindset that made it work - I'm hoping this week it can be done in one sitting, just easier for all.
I know you aren't sure about Fridays but if you can make the raid let me know - I have a feeling spaces will open up with COD fever

I did it with Martin on easy mode last night, and we could easily have walked the entire raid first time with no wipes (apart from martin blindly bumbling in front of a gorgon lol) were it not for the following well documented bugs
1st run it only teleported one of us, leaving 5 outside and only 1 inside
2nd run, coming out of the portals on the second ocassion the relic bugged out and wouldn't put up the shield.
3rd run went fine and we got him almost inside 2 trips, but needed a few seconds on the 3rd trip to finish him off.
Its gutting that they've managed to "fix" atheon not teleporting people "as they intended" and "fixed" atheon and the templar being pushed off, whilst completely ignoring the bugs that cause pain to people doing it properly.
Its totally the wrong way round - focusing on the negative (ie you shouldn't be doing the raid this way, lets stop you) and not on the positive (ie we've fixed some of the bugs and it should now be easier to do it without cheese)

No worries, and thanks. Happy with relic carrying... but realize hunter is the 3rd most popular class for carrying relic.

I don't understand the extreme negativity of some to hunters. I realize warlocks have self-res etc, but on aetheon, golden gun is a great super. On the outside, 1 shot supplicant kills makes management of them easy, and when portal-ed, 3-4 golden gun shots at the minotaur or 1 shot into each of the hobgoblins whist the relic carrier closes distance really helps out.[/QUOTE]
I don't have an issue with them at all - just something I've noticed when I had my Hunter raid-worthy. I guess its because Bladedancers aren't really that useful unless its crowd control which is limited in the raid to places where a decent primary/secondary is more than acceptable. As you said Gunslingers seem to have more utility dealing with shielded stuff and the oracles (best class inside portals tbh)
The issue I can see is that hunters just don't have the ability to create an overshield like Titans and Warlocks can do as part of their perks - they also don't have a void class. It just makes them a bit more fragile when the going gets tough and they have very limited defensive capabilities compared to the other classes. Its just that these things tend to show up in something like Hard Raid I guess - also all the popular cheese methods don't help their cause either
But that's why I'm here organising rather than worrying about PUGs

Coming from an MMO background my view is always that the start time is when the raid starts, not when invites start, so yeah you should be ready 5-10 mins beforehand. I'd say the etiquette for Destiny has yet to be established but given the demand for raid spots and limited supply I suggest that would be an especially good idea otherwise you might find your spot taken
Can hunters (Blade Dancer) go invisible when holding shield? If so, it might be a viable strategy to picking up relic, disappear, smash, run and disappear. Not everything have to be brute forced

Any experienced raider willing to lead a normal raid if I get a team together we have all done till end boss but could just do with an experienced head to organise us at the end... just a thought if not we'll just crack on or I'll try and get on a raid announced here if not already full.

We did spend a considerable amount of time in that damn raid last week. I can't do that again, well, not until Crota. I think I might wait till Iron Banner can guarantee me 30.
You really should be 26 before attempting the raid on normal.
