Detailing Stages

Not really detailing but.. I've done the whole clay polish etc. thing with previous cars, don't really want to bother with this one, I am getting good results washing every month or so doing:

Valet Pro PH neutral snow foam
AG Pure Shampoo hand wash
Sonax BSD 50:50 with water as a drying aid

After the BSD the car looks great and water just runs off, is there anything I can add in there to get more shiny shiny?

I'm a firm believer of sticking to what works for you. Your setup is quite good because it's not a permanent solution to protecting the paint and you're just topping up the BSD as and when and this comes with some upsides.

I have Gtechniq CSU which is a long term paint sealant which is great for chemical and marring resistance, but wasn't really designed for water repellency or shine hence why the Evo toppings exist from Gtechniq. As it's long term, it does require removal of water mineral spots, iron fallout and tar every 6 months so does benefit from an acidic snow foam such as CarPro descale and a fallout remover such as Korosol.

With your solution you can remove the BSD easily enough, decon and top back up easily enough. Much easier and cheaper than having something like CSU redone.

Try Garage Therapy Three Ceramic sealant (it's a spray on sealant rather than a small bottle/applicator) as a base layer, with Garage Therapy Sigma as a detailer/drying aid/top up. I've heard that combination gives good slickness and shine.

Waxes still have a place when it comes to slickness and shine, but are more involved to apply and it's always a balance between longevity of protection vs gloss.

@Mekrel Getting my bits together, have the Greenworks main unit and my foam cannon with the adapter you so kindly sent to me...

Just waiting for the battery from Portsmouth and the charger, which on that note has been sitting in my Amazon order for 5 days. But I just tried to cancel and wasn't able to so looks like it will be shipping soon.

So the Greenworks main unit was £ 124.99 ex VAT, the 40V 4.0Ah Battery was £ 99.99 inc VAT and delivery to Portsmouth. Delivery from Portsmouth to Jersey was a further £ 9.99. I didn't get charged anything for dangerous goods so saved £ 25 there and the rapid battery charger was £ 49.99 ex VAT.

So in total £ 284.96 - £ 25.84 leftover Amazon gift voucher. On Amazon themselves everything above all on one order comes to £ 308.31 ex VAT. So I've saved £ 23.35 by buying separately.

Looks good! Hope you're happy with it, I'm not sure how far your water source is from the car but the bucket when full with water is pretty heavy. It's a struggle for me with two flights of stairs and I'm a fairly fit 35 year old. So would recommend not filling it to the top and topping it up when in situ from another bucket.

In terms of Bilt Hamber pre-washes, I calculated 4% PIR to be 300ml of product with this setup but it could differ for you as I have a different hose and trigger gun vs the stock setup.

I’ve got to go down four flights of stairs to the underground car park, so I might take it down empty and put it in locked shed. Then fill two buckets with water and take them down. Put that into it and then do the same again when needed. Even carrying two buckets of water is pretty heavy and I’m a fairly unfit 46 year old.

Just filled a 10L watering can with water and it was quite heavy but manageable. Main problem was that as it was filled to the brim water was leaking out when I moved it.

My buckets hold 14.7L each so if I fill them with approximately 10L I should be able to carry them. The Greenworks holds 20L but is quite heavy without any water in it and 20L of water is quite heavy in itself.

At this stage I think you should consider taking your cleaning product to a garage and using their pressure washer.

Stop faffing about with a battery powered watering can.

i disagree

i would rather take my time at my own convivence, not be pressured into hurrying up because the next person wants to use it, plus if you do a lot, so pre wash, wash, polish, wax your there all day !

I'm doing this on my phone, so image may not show

Used a maralax hand foamer this morning, with BH Autofoam, using the thickest nozzle, before work, took 2 lots of pumps to just do the back of the car

And to spray it off I used a cheap hand pump, 2 litre one, and used it all to rinse it down

But the cleaning effect, wow, not been able to wash it in 6 months and afterwards it was like over 90% cleaner!!

Amazing cleaning power

My charger has finally been dispatched so I should have everything this time next week. Probably going to fill a 10L watering can but not to the brim and pour that into the Greenworks unit.

If I need to make two trips for water then so be it. The good thing about using a watering can is that it should be fairly easy to pour into the Greenworks unit whereas using buckets it wouldn’t be.

I have just ordered the Amazon snow foam lance bottle

at least it holds more than the soap dispenser that comes with the Worx (400ml Vs 1,000ml)

and im going to order a 1.1mm orifice to put straight in

Good move, probably not worth going to the expense of the MJJC Foam Cannon Pro if using with a worx.

that was my thoughts too

i didn't want to spend £50 and be no different from the amazon one because of the low pressure

i did see a video recently, 3 foam cannons tested

Cheap amazon one
cheap amazon one with 1.1 orifice

and a £100 foam cannon

but with a powerful pressure washer so not really a comparison, but the AMZ without the orifice was crap, the 1.1 orifice added on made it much better , and the top one was world class
