Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (Square Enix Reveal new Deus Ex)

Imo the game is streets ahead of Human Revolution in terms of gameplay, atmosphere, level design, Augs, and side quests. The only place it isn't is in the main story for me. It is still OK though.

So, should I finally pull the trigger on this game? I have a cheap key to grab and I love stealth games but I'm not entirely convinced by the gameplay videos. I see people in this thread who were disappointed with the rather sparse plot and abrupt ending. Some say it's also quite short.

It's a short game if you point-to-point blast through, only do story missions and don't explore the game world and the side quests. My first play-through took me about 80 hours, in which I explored as much as I could. Even if it had taken me half that time, I would still have been satisfied. It's a good game. Not as good as HR in terms of story, but still good.

I think I'll give it a shot:) Should I bother with the Season Pass? The Digital Deluxe key is not much more...

I'd go with the standard version. The DLC is a little meh, at the moment. You could always get it later if you enjoy the game. It'll probably be cheaper then as well.

I find in terms of the inventory, augs (in terms of ui mechanics), etc. a bit non-intuitive and unnecessarily sprawling even the original game felt better for that IMO.

21:9 users - have you noticed anything weird since the patch. The looting 'wheel' seems horribly stretched now, as do the items you take, though the game looks fine other than that.

Yes I've noticed that too although the rest of the game seems unaffected. I haven't noticed as much frame drops either since the new patch although I may have just started subconsciously ignoring them...

Weirdly I tried running at 1920x1080 to record the post credits scene of the DLC and whatever I did, the resolution filled the monitor.

On Overwatch if I select 2560x1440 (because 16:9 is better than 21:9 in that game) I get black borders left and right.

How did you find it when compared to the Missing Link DLC from HR? In terms of length and narrative?

Well missing link at least tied in to the overarching storyline of Human Revolution much more, this feels almost unconnected to the events of Mankind Divided really.

I'd say Missing Link was slightly longer and that at least had two distinct sections, on the ship and the offshore facility. This feels smaller even though the Palisade bank is very large and very vertical.

What they try and do near the end is interesting though, without spoiling it.

Back in Prague at night time, still finding new places I had missed. There is a lot
here if you explore. I see a balcony that I somehow missed before, I keep wandering off missions, for days. Great fun.

You know what ******* me off about this game - it's that even though they have made only the slightest attempt to follow the major plotlines of HR and the original - the icing on the cake is that, at every single opportunity, they shoved photos and videos of the designers including interviews into our faces. Talk about ego-centric.

The bloody dev team spent longer on stupid photos and promotional material than the plot!

Take away a few pre rendered videos of the illuminati and around 10% of the game (if that) and mankind divided could have been it's own IP. It's a good game but not a great Deus Ex game in my opinion.

I already like it very much after just an hour, so it seems it was worth it. Wish I could get better fps, though. Drops don't feel terrible in this game but locked is always the best. Many settings don't appear to do much in terms of framerate.

Yes poor performance was my main issue with this game at the start, their ‘recommended’ settings are broken, really ruined my intro to the game. Once you get it performing though, I think it’s a great game.

A lot of the graphics settings don’t seem to do much in term of visuals either so you can turn many of them down, there are a few good guides around. One thing I would turn up is Ambient Occlusion, but a lot of the rest can be turned down or off – they kill performance and didn’t seem to add much quality at all, game looks fabulous now.

I feel that the storyline in MD is a prelude to something far greater. The plot isn't as interesting as HR nor as conclusive, however it does line things up very well for a sequel. I look forward to seeing the illuminati and the other factions mentioned in MD, being introduced in greater depth.
