Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (Square Enix Reveal new Deus Ex)

Forget about Ultra I think that is for nex-gen cards. I quite like being able to come back to a PC game in a year or two and being able to turn everything up to Ultra. Like Crysis.

You should be able to run most on Very High but yes I found Prague stuttery in parts too so I turned down things like shadows as I don't really notice shadows in a game once they're good-enough. Do you need Shadows high?

I know what you mean though, I hate turning settings down as a rule but it's worth it in this game as stuttering ruins my whole day and even when I turned a few settings down the game still looks lovely. Some of the graphics settings in this game KILL performance and IMHO add little to the already-impressive visuals.

I have nothing set to ultra, no MSAA, CHS etc., only AO and LOD are maxed.
I'd rather leave shadows on high as there's a noticeable difference on medium, from ultra to high - not so much.
Parallax, reflections and the like are on but not maxed.

Anyway, overclock seems to have solved the problem, the game only drops to 56 or so in certain places now. I can live with that but it really is a bit too demanding.

On the plus side, I find it really enjoyabe. I wish there was a second hub, though. Prague is a bit too reminiscent of City 17 and feels slightly dull. They should've made a Hong Kong-inspired city, would be absolutely epic!

I’ve seen a few people complain about the visuals in this game – and on another forum too.

I was wandering around the T29 HQ yesterday for a while just admiring the details, I think it looks great. Do people really think this game doesn’t look good? Or is it something to do with having to turn some settings down (when we really don't want to?)

Nope, I have no qualms with dropping some settings but having to drop to medium on a 1070 or overclocking heavily is a bit too much. The game does indeed look good but it doesn't look good enough to warrant such requrements. I don't find it particularly jaw-dropping but definitely above average. AC: Unity (after patching), the Division, GTA V look better on the whole and run better as well.

I was going to do a story mission last night but then I saw a new balcony that I had somehow missed before so I eventually found a way up there (by building bins on top of each other – is that how other people do it? Doesn’t seem very secret-agenty but it works) and found a brand new apartment to ransack. As I was leaving I saw an awning above another place that I could hack and that let me jump up to yet another new apartment with some brilliant loot. I thought I had found them all previously. This game is an explorer’s paradise. Never did get around to that story mission. Again.

It's a great game, very addictive. I couldn't get into anything else lately but it sucked me right in. The augs, the stealth, the exploration and the hacking; really up my street. I love games where you don't have to shoot
people but you can sneak around and use different tactics. It's like a futuristic, exploration-heavy MGS with an RPG twist.

I've just completed this and loved every second of it. A total of 32 hours to complete and zero stealth.

Any recommendations for games that are similar to this that I might of missed?

The one with
Richard
?

That was the first one I did after scavenging a few apartments and somehow finding myself in the sewers;p

Yes that's the one. I'm only doing it now 70 hours in. Not that all my advanced augs were much good to me. It was interesting. The more I play this game the more I like it. Will definitely be replaying it at least twice.

I tried replaying Human Revolution, but I just can't get in to it. That is about 4 times this year I have tried to replay it(I have completed it 2-3 times btw). I can't put my finger on why or when it happened, but it has really dated for me. Movement feels clunky, mechanics are a bit basic. It all feels more cumbersome to me. Shame. I do think Mankind Divided is leagues ahead of it for me.

Do any of you have occasional driver crashes in this game when running overclocked? It happened to me a couple of times, sometimes even in the same place.

Dropping a few mhz doesn't seem to help and every other game is fully stable at +170mhz.

Either the engine is really sensitive to OC or it happens even when running stock and I just lucked out when trying stock.

I'm having lots of fun playing the game. So much so I have done my first playthrough videos on youtube (they start off low quality but it gets better as the series develops).

DX 12 mode seems very buggy for me.

As much as I've enjoyed the series I think playing Witcher3 has spoilt things for me!

I've just finished Mankind Divided and actually thought the end boss fight was the first of many to come, not the one and only!

I tried not to rush things, sneaking around a bit, exploring, having fire fights also, and I seem to have more than a dozen unused Praxis kits and now the game has ended it all seems incomplete.

I just expected more, especially after the delay getting to release day, and having it on preorder for a year.

:(

I keep finding hidden apartments and extra balconies etc. in Prague. Amazing amount of secrets hidden around the place. I think if you keep following the objective marker you will miss half the game here. About 70 hours in and I don’t think I’m near the end yet. From a shaky start Prague has really grown on me, it’s a masterpiece with plenty of hidden secrets.

I'm having a great time with it. IMO its length is perfect for the mechanics not to overstay its welcome like it happened with the Witcher 3. And the gameplay is better as well, at least when you play stealthily. The atmosphere is superb.

Mankind Divided's story is nothing amazing so far but I didn't expect it to be. When I finished Witcher 3 I was like "is that cliche, poorly padded out plot with so many unnecessary characters really the best storyline ever made?":p
It was all style and no substance and the gameplay became extremely repetitive after a while. They hid the basic plot behind loads of dialogues (nicely written, I give them that) and a couple of good sidequests. The expansions were a lot better but I was already burned out from doing the same thing over and over again for 140 hours. It took me a year to finish the base game. Useless loot and terrible levelling issues which made me basically immortal after a couple of hourse even on the hardest difficulty setting didn't really help.

Very good game but massively overrated. Can't see why people who played it wouldn't be able to enjoy Mankind Divided, unless it's completely not their type of game or they came in with massive expectations.

EDIT:

Also, I really like how the game introduces changes exactly when they're needed. Prague's getting a bit familiar - you're going to Golem City. When you come back - it's night-time and there are new places to explore and everything feels different;p

BTW, Golem City was brilliant, I wish it was bigger and made the main hub. If I were to point out my main gripe with this game, it would be a lot of unrealised potential for spectacular locations. There should be a second hub modelled after Hong Kong or Tokyo.
