Devil May Cry Official Thread

The game had no reputation, DMC2 and DMC3 were both poor compared to DMC and I only really saw average comments in regards to DMC4.

I agree with DMC 2 being a pile of crap, but how can you call DMC 3 poor compared to DMC 1? The only thing that I think that beats DMC 3 from DMC 1 are the bosses and the atmosphere of the game.

I've always viewed them to both be more or less on par with each other. DMC 3 has the better combat mechanics and enemy AI and DMC 1 had the better setting/atmosphere and better bosses.

I know its your opinion, but I'm just curious to why you think its poor in comparison.

DMC 4 is great, gameplay is excellent and no different from any other DMC, think those that don't like it was expecting something different. Me personally am glad they diddn't change too much.

i agree its a great game but i have not played it since the first version, i have only just got into the combat system and found out how it works should have been explained more clearly in my opinion. and the small side missions are great for learning teqniques.

I have to say im actually quite enjoying it. I went against the grain and bought it for my PS3 rather than my 360. Gives me something else to play on PS3 if nothing else :)

I don't think it's a bad game, but since playing God of War I've not really enjoyed any other game in the genre. It's GoW or nothing for me now tbh, would have to be an exceptional game to break that rule.

Can't wait for my rental to come through from swap game, hopefully it'll come tuesday, it's at the top of my list.

Swap game is back to it's best now, 3 day turnaround again at last!

DMC is always a game that's set itself out in 3 departments, style, locale and bosses, I felt DMC (1) was superior for the latter and by DMC3 the whole style thing wasn't as cool or innovative as it once was. I couldn't help but think it was the same thing with worse environments.

I picked mine up from a highstore retailer on Friday. Limited edition, with a free faceplate. Cost me £34.99, can't argue at that price. Enjoying it so far though, boss levels are really fun, quite epic, especially in the way you attack them and stuff.

Just finished this on Devil Hunter mode about 10 minutes ago. I loved DMC4 and it was good to see them back on form, as I hated 2 and never got aorund to playing 3. Also anyone that thinks the game is too easy should definitely play it on devil hunter as thats when it becomes pretty challenging.

SPOILER

Anyone think playing with Dante sucks compared to Nero? I really miss the demon arm grab Nero has, I don't seem to be able to perform as good combos with Dante.

Yeah its hard to change styles when you're so used to the devil arm. Dante makes it a lot easier to get higher style though, switching weapons and fighting styles just gives you more variety.

In my skills I've just powered up Swordmaster so far. You think it's worth skilling up in a variety of styles?

Got the PS3 version as the pad felt better when playing the demo. Played the first few missions and I'm quite enjoying it. It's my first DMC but I've played the GOW games and Heavenly Sword.

Does look lovely too.

I'm on Mission 3 I think, enjoying it so far. Started on Devil Hunter (no idea why people are staring on Normal whcih is "easy mode" to all intents and purposes).

Reminds me a lot of DMC1 but faster and with better graphics (and the crazy Devil Bringer Arm, really helps in "designing" new multi hit combos!!!)
