Does anyone else's screen suffer from the issue in this photo?

I.e the black edge to the panel is thicker on the left than the right.

The response to my thread in the customer service section was that they don't consider it fault and

Not impressed.

To be honest, that just looks like it's not square in the frame. Take the frame off and reseat it - it's the same procedure as for replacing the stand with a VESA mount so there'll be pics of how to do it somewhere.

I will probably get two of these. But I think the overall conclusion of this thread is 'you get what you pay for'? Issues are encountered with lower priced/higher spec monitors. But most seem to be ok

I'll give 'em a whirl!

How would my 7950 cope with one of these?

I wouldnt mind getting one of these but not if the difference in fps in unacceptable after switching from 1080p.

I've sent mine back now, got it picked up today. Great RMA service from ocuk I have to say.

In the end the little blob of dirt behind the screen, and the clouding and backlight bleed issues were just too much. There was also a slight 'flicker' going on at random times which was really odd, and worrying. This panel doesn't use PWM so it shouldn't have any flicker issues at all. TFT confirmed that on here http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/flicker_free_database.htm

I know this is a 'budget' monitor, but I still expect better, so it's gone back. You really do get what you pay for. If you get lucky the panel itself is ok, but the stand and general housing is cheap and nasty really.

As to a single 7950 on this for gaming? 2560x1400 is a lot more power hungry than I was expecting (my other monitor is 1920x1200). My I7 clocked at 4.6 and 2 GTX 670's in SLI (both good clockers) really struggled with this res to maintain steady 60fps (a must for me these days) in the few punishing titles I had time to try out.
If you like to run Skrim to the max, with enb and mods you have no chance of steady 60 fps at this res. Same for Crysis 3 at high or max, and even far cry 3. Other less intensive games might be ok though but don't expect to run everything at max at 2560x1400, even on 2 decent cards, so on one 7950, no chance.

Really tempted but hearing recent negative things about them makes me not sure. How has the returns/replacements gone for people who's been unlucky enough to get a faulty unit?

just received my replacement and much better than the first, next to no backlight bleed and no faulty pixels, image quality looks great and now time to test some games and hope it last longer than the 10 minutes the last one did

Glad to hear you've got a better one. You didn't get my return then (no blob of dirt bottom middle? ;):D

I'm waiting on my refund still. I've picked up the dell 29 u2913wm instead. One of the newish super wide range. The aspect ratio and 'loss' of vertical pixels isn't for everyone, but I think it ***** all over the DGM in every respect to be honest. Zero dead pixels, zero backlight bleed or clouding, far superior build quality and looks all round, and most importantly for me the colour rendition is more accurate. And for gaming, super wide (2560 x 1080) is absolutely awesome, and the hit on my GPUs is a lot less than 2560 x 1440, which is surprisingly taxing even for a pair of 670s.

I've had one of these for a week and a half now and think it's absolutely fantastic...

Screen is pristine, has next to no bleed that I can see (less than the Sammy, Dell and Hazro monitors I'd previously owned...not that I ever thought they had excessive bleed anyway), no bad pixels at all and no "dirt" or other defects...extremely happy bunny ! :-)

For the money it's an absolute bargain !

Sounds like you struck lucky! Have to say I agree, IF you can get a faultless panel. And at the £300 price tag it was when I tried mine, it really is a bargain.

I must say that aesthetically it doesn't float my boat though. I'm not a fan of gloss plastic, and the build quality screams and looks budget. This might not bother some, but we're a bit geeky on here aren't we, so it bothers many :)
