Diablo 3 (Console versions)

Do PC vets think this is worth picking up to play through again? I got it on the PC at release and got a good months fun out of it but haven't really picked it up since. Have heard the console version is an improvement and am tempted to go pick this up...

Same dilemma here to be honest. Worst part is that I've finished PC with every single class as well now so don't really have anything new.

However, the feel and idea of actually getting drops instead of farming gold and trying to find good deals on AH sounds fun, like the old good times of d1/d2.

I don't have much time to play anymore but I'm still tempted!
I've only played demo on the console but it seemed more fun, the difficulty is bit better ( you can actually die even on normal ) which made it more engaging. I've had to dodge things etc otherwise I'd die even to zombies : ). On PC you can play on mp10 till inferno nowadays and you hardly even notice it.

Well, I had a free afternoon and some vouchers burning a hole in my pocket so went out and got it.. I will let you know how I get on! Just need to wait for the tv to be free now...

Bought this on Saturday and spent a good chunk of yesterday playing it with the wife. We're both level 13 and really enjoying it, though I think we may struggle slightly on higher levels as I'm a Demon Hunter and she's a Wizard, so while we're killing everything fairly easily at range now, I think it wouldn't be a bad thing for one of us to be a tank like a Barb or a Monk. I just love playing as a DH though, Rapid Fire is such an awesome skill!

Question, I've been playing easy mode and my brothers been playing medium mode. Were both at same point in nightmare, I have more legendaries than him. Tonight I joined his medium game for first time and was shocked to find everything pretty much 1 hit me.

His stats were more than double mine?!?! Is it a case of him getting higher stat items being on medium setting where I've been getting crappy stuff on easy? He can walk around medium quite easy like I do on easy.

Confused, I've had to come off it, my chara just gets 1 hit from everything lol?

Did you check level of the items? Just because they're legendaries doesn't mean they're always the best. Look for stats that you need. If you're on nightmare I suppose you're around level 40, focus on your main stat (dex/str/int depending on class) and vita, lots of vita. Try to find items with sockets and put gems in it. After level 50 you can start getting gear with some resistances so try to use those as well (physical or all res are best - they make massive difference).

Armor makes a lot of difference as well if you forget about it.
Basically forget about the items colour (legendary, rare, blue) and just try to get best stats for your type of build and class. Obviously your build will make difference as well, the skills and passives you use change the game totally.

Try to craft some gear etc till you get stats that you want if you can't find anything :).

Hope it helps, the game is a lot more complicated than it might seem for first timers, there is a lot to optimize etc, even the way you play.

Can someone give me some advice. I'm playing co-op on PS3. We're using 2 characters created on the same PS account. Why is it that only P1 has access to Stash / can use Blacksmith etc? How is P2 supposed to Repair?

Finally getting the game after playing the demo with the missus!

She's set on being a barb, I was a wiz but eversince playing NWN, I like the idea of playing a Monk, fast in, chuck norris the mob. Any Monk players out there? How is he like for coop?

Thanks.

Loving this so far. It's only early days (still in act 1 :() but very much enjoying the campaign again and finding it suitably different to the PC version.

How's the difficulty compared to PC in your opinion? Are drops good enough and varied as well?

As I say it's early days (and a long time since I played on PC - my memory isn't crystal clear) but regarding difficulty it seems to be harder. Just playing on normal but I died a few times on my baba when I wasn't paying enough attention. I don't really recall dying on the PC version for most of act 1 except when there was a bad few packs.
Wouldn't say I've played enough to really comment on the drops yet but it was definitely a motivation for buying the game.

I'm just about to reach the Skeleton King and both missus and I died a fair few times whilst playing on Hard - she's a Barb whilst I'm a Monk.

A little confused with my monk initially as I seriously thought he's like D&D sort of Monk, where his Fist do the talking and will scale according to leveling, turns out I need to equip "ugly" / non-fist type weapon for him to scale and sheath it whilst I punch and run around mobs. Bit disappointed about that - this is coming from a complete Diablo newbie's POV.

We're getting the hang of it now, she's tanking/dual wielding whilst I'm picking mobs and round house kicking mobs when it get's too big for us to handle. Seems to work fine. Monk's blinding is a godsend when surrounded!

I am a Diablo noob too but I'm not sure what you mean by a non-fist-type weapon or that you have to sheath it. By sheath you mean you have to physically unequip it in your inventory? I'm not much help as I've only played the demo and the monk isn't in that.

All damage from skills is based on equipped weapons. Even Monks 'fist' attacks derive their damage from what weapon your holding. Unless it's changed from the PC version he walks around carrying the weapon and then puts it away to strike with his fists...it's annoying. People were complaining at the PC launch but I presumed they had fixed it by now. Would make much more sense to either have it on his belt/back or just not show it at all.

Exactly what Shamikebab described, on the console version, I run into the fight with a club and axe (club gives me loads of Dex and Axe has a high DPS with Arcane damage), and when I start fighting, the weapons on my sides whilst I punch the living daylights out of mobs.

Very stupid and I would have thought that'd be fixed since the PC. Obviously not. Not a major problem for me, just for 'cool factor', I now actively look for fist weapons or "Monk Staff". Still a good game and the Barb/Monk combo we're using after 10 levels can now easily run into mobs and clear it our without too much worry... for now.

Can't wait for more crawling tonight!

So it's just an aesthetic thing? If you had a sword equipped that dealt flame damage would the monk's fists still do flame damage? Or is that weapon's magic useless as it's not being actively wielded?

It becomes an aesthetic thing, all the stats and DPS is base on the weapon(s) I equip, despite when in a fight, I am punching with the weapons on the side/disappear from animation.

It's the same with a Wizard. My wife is a wizard and I'm a DH, and at one point she had an axe equipped to cast her spells as it was more powerful than any wand she had. It looked weird but it hit hard, so she was happy!

The barb and monk combo is one of the best combos you can get as later on you get auras on monk and shouts on barb both of which work for entire team so you can give the monk things like dodge/hp/resistances/armor as barb with shouts and monk can use damage/hp regen/dodge aura.

Monks resistances with barbs aura just get utterly silly at lvl60 thanks to monks passive which takes all your resistances up to same level as the highest one you have (so you can just stack all res + lightning for example and it will change all the resists to the combined value of both, on top of which barbs shout increases them even further).

I'm still trying to sort out a cheap 2nd hand copy but nobody seems to be bored with the game just yet :(

The fact that the PS4 version isn't coming out at launch must mean they're waiting to include the expansion pack, too. It's painful reading all these happy gaming times and I'm holding out to play... :D
