My pretty high level and decent gear sorc gets one-shot in moderately high NM tier dungeons If I don't have some kind of barrier up.
Sorc needs a lot of balancing as it stands, because it's just not fun when you get insta-killed by basically anything!
Stay in WT3, going to back to WT1 will make the XP gain painfully slow. I'd suggest gearing up by doing Helltides, Whisper events & open world events ... tag along with others for safety ( and drops ) even if you're not in a party with them. It won't take long to get some sacred gear, and once you do you'll feel much more powerful. However, if you've entered WT3 at a much lower level than Blizz recommends it may take longer for your character to get to that point - fighting monsters 4+ lvls higher than you can be very tough depending on your build.

If you DO drop a tier, go to WT2, not WT1 at least.
Tell me about it ! Lol. I have a lvl 100 Sorc and NM tier 60 is about the max I can push, and even then I'm tip-toeing around the dungeon. And it's not just a "me" problem ... on reddit, official D4 forums etc all sorcs are complaining. Sorcs need the damage of all direct damage ( and DOTS ) spells to be scaled up massively. The necro bone spear, ironically, is the highest damaging "magic" spell ... and it's not on a sorc ! The design team that created sorcs have tried to aim for the glass cannon stereotype ... only problem is they forgot to add in the cannon bit !. We have the defensive capabilities of a newly born kitten ( using all 4 defensive skills is mandatory for every build ) and the damage output of an early beta low level druid. Any other class in S1 is going to feel like easy mode in comparison.

RIP mate, im currently on level 25 on my rogue at the moment where my 1st rogue RIPPED at lvl 22, also got a Sorc at 21 but i prefer rogues to be honest. You going to make another ? As no doubt will need help on the harder bitsOops...my highest hardcore character, lvl 49 just died, right as I was on the brink of unlocking Tier 3.

Yup so I dropped the game again for now, I played a bit yesterday to see what the new changes were like, but Sorc needs some defensive love.
They should balance so that all classes are capable of running NM100 at level 100 with top tier gear, I think Sorc is the only class that can't really do this currently.

Yup, and same with Uber_Lilith ( until Maxroll killed her with that very specific blizzard/ice spikes build ). Every other class has at least 1 or 2 mainstream builds that can face tank her, and comfortably push NM 70+.

Is the sorc Ultimate actually worthwhile? I have tried the snake and cold ultimates and they basically dont seem to do squat. If i drop it and pick another defensive ability that might give me 30 more seconds before being turned into mashed potato.
I'm currently using the arc lash build, unstable currents seems to melt everything it just has a long cooldown so got to try play around that.
Is this the 1 off maxroll.gg or the Icy vines?
I am using the arc lash build off maxroll.gg but trying to find items with the stats needed is a nightmare.

Yes, they are worth it but in WT3+ the damage output drops off a lot compared to other classes ultimates. That said, ultimate skills in general are a bit underwhelming for everyone. The trick to getting all 4 defensive skills for a sorc is finding an amulet with +defensive skill affix on it. That way you don’t have to waste skill points on acquiring them all. Just put points into the skills critical to your build eg. frost nova ( which is mandatory for almost all sorcs ).
Someone posted a video in here quite a few pages ago, the youtube page is called RageGamingVideos. He has loads of diff sorc builds, I used his arc lash one and seems to work for me. Found an item that randomly applies frost nova to enemies you kill so when you have unstable currents active if that procs you get loads of crit hits. Also found another item that gives you 2 charges of frost nova too.

After a sanity check, I have two 980 Pro's installed in my PC one for OS and the other for games. Does everyone else gets insane amounts of stutter when loading in to towns/dungeons, or transitioning between zones etc for a few seconds as assets load in etc?
I'm only asking as my Samsung Magician benchmarks look okay, but 3DMark seems well down on others as a comparison and wonder if the drive is functioning as it should.

I do, sometimes it freezes for a couple of secs. Can't remember if the game is on a SSD or the nvme drive though
