** Diablo 4 Thread **

I've requested a refund for now, might buy again in the future should they release information about changes and updates before launch but as it stands I'm not happy with the game and the direction they have taken the franchise. Back to D2R, Last Epoch and PoE it is for me.

Feeling similar. I think I’m going to give it a wide berth at release and see where they take it in the coming months and years. Was underwhelmed with what I played last night. Something off about it.

Sounds like it’s had a rather bumpy development too based off of an article I’ve read. Shame. I loved Diablo 1 and 2. 2 is in my top 5.

Played 6 hours, doesn't stand up to POE, also not happy with the direction they have taken.

It will all be about the end game content and I think that's going to be a challenge to beat POE in I'm afraid

Why are people even comparing classes and builds when it's all junk until endgame multi gear set bonuses and builds? Have they changed things that drastically to alter this?
For some people like me, its about the campaign and not the end-game grind. I don't care for power levelling, I want to enjoy the gameplay and thematics.

If the Druid is useless without power levelling and legendaries, I wont play it.

Thing to also consider, is that Blizzard intentially increased the drop rates of legendaries for the beta, so come launch you may not actually see any at all, and if some of the classes require them to feel not ****, it's not going to be a fun experience.

I'm sticking with my pre-order, liked it enough to cough up and play it on release.

Is it probably going to be a perfect game? no probably not, but I will get my moneys worth on it I'm certain :)

It's good that people get to try it out though and see on the beta weekends, saves some heartache later.

Got a necro to level 15, quite fun. Doubt I will end up pre ordering the game tho, might wait for it to come down in price.

Unlike most things Blizzard don't really seem to go for deep discounts, at least in a hurry.

I think the price will remain high for the remainder of this year at least, depends if it winds up losing popularity at the end game, but certainly next 6-9 months it's likely to remain near the launch price.

No way I'm basing my opinion on classes or builds on the beta content. At level 50 with more points into the skill tree and paragon system alongwith combining specific legendary aspects, there will be powerful builds for every class.

It would be like making a final decision on the future of PoE based on the open beta all those years ago which had loads of complaints. The only difference being the game was free but if you wanted to min/max it down the line you needed to pump money in.

I don't think that's a fair comparison to make today, gaming has changed a lot and before PoE, the pinnicle ARPG was D2, where end game basically consisted of endlessly grinding campaign areas and boss farming, but it wasn't boss farming like we have come to enjoy in PoE.

At the end of the day, any ARPG released today, it is EXPECTED to have certain content and depth with builds/classes. Last Epoch for example is a game developed by a handful of people and yet it manages to have a robust character build system and decent end game loop. Obviously I would never expect a new game to compete with the content in PoE, PoE has had nearly a decade to add new things to do and PoE2 will have access to that same content.

So if your going to compare D4 to anything, I'd be looking at Last Epoch and what PoE2 will have. While D4 may have the graphical advantage, that is irrelevant to anyone who plays an ARPG for any length of time, because fancy graphics just mean one thing. Poor performance when your blasting. When I blast through PoE maps to get to the boss farming, I have gfx set to low and sound turned off to decrease load times to a minimum, as a few seconds lost per minute of farming can be significant over the course of a league launch.

I suspect Chris Wilson from GGG, is probably sat back watching the D4 beta thinking, "we have nothing to worry about boys n girls".

Until PoE2 is released and totally fubars everything, no dev team/company is immune to making a complete cack of things, as we've learnt over the years from the likes of Bullfrog, EA, CDPR and countless others. Good past games is definitely no guarantee that they wont make a total hash of things. After all, Blizzard were once upon a time one of the most highly regarded game companies amongst gamers too :D

This for me. I've had a lot of fun so far and am expecting that fun to continue into release. Definitely sticking with my preorder. I'll get hundreds of hours of entertainment out of it trying to get each character to max level in hardcore with friends. Once my characters finally get to max , which will no doubt take a long time, I'll be done with the game having more than met my £ per hour. I'm not one for rerunning endgame content in games (whether its dungeons, or maps, or raids, or rifts, or whatever buzzword each game wants to call them), no matter what the game is I wont be sticking 10,000 hours into it. Got better things and more other titles to do with my time than that, so that has no appeal to me.

No doubt that could happen. But I suspect based on how passionate they are about the game, they wouldn't release it in that state.

Blizzard have been going down hill since 2007 when Activision took over. Certainly the past decade has been very bad for them.

Lets hope you're right, I mean CDPR were pretty passionate about Cyberpunk after all and Bethesda were pretty passionate about Fallout and released the dire Fallout 76 in its state. Fingers crossed it will be good though for the PoE types.

I levelled a rogue to 10 and it went fine, no real issues, bow/xbox spec. Didn't find any legendaries that helped me either.

I think people will find gear that helps a bit but as long as it's still fun/possible without the legendaries then I'm fine with it.

I think all classes will be viable, but yes some may need the right gear to do the very hardest things.

Got in straight away this morning, continued playing as a Necro and found it a bit too easy. I flew through everything just using 2 skills, Blight and Bone Splinters, so turned off my skellies most of the time as I didn't like it too busy on screen, plus it felt a little more of a challenge that way. I did enjoy it though, definitely sticking with my pre order. Might try the other classes available tomorrow and Monday.

Pet classes annoy the bejesus out of me, its even worse in some arpgs where the character can have dozens of minions. I dont even like grouping with people playing pet classes because of all the damn things all over the screen, why some game company hasnt yet developed an arpg where I can select not to be able to see other peoples minions on the screen I dont know. I dont need to see all their annoying pets everywhere, let me toggle them off.

Giving the open beta a go to see if I'll get at at / before release. Note sure at the moment...

Trying Necromancer with Decompose as main "attack" talent and then Hewed Flesh as supporting skill for corpses leading into Corpse explosion. Only level 9 so far but AOE explosions set off a ripple of BOOM!

It does seem very "clunky" though, not smooth at all. Note sure if my PC struggling / Beta overloading issues or it's jsut like this.... It's a bit annoying
