The non enjoyment of education thing, I know what you mean tbh, I did college, hated it and didn't want to go to university. So I went into full time employment as an IT guy at an Accountancy Firm, man did I get annoyed with it fast! Stuck with the job for over a year however while I sorted out my uni stuff and now I'm at uni hating 1/4 of the course that I gotta do here!

My advice would that you should really try to find something that you enjoy, which in your case would be computing as it seems, go to college, try to get A levels in Computing / IT and some other subject/s you know you will enjoy and maybe after that join the army and go into something like telecomunications :)?

Just an idea ;)

Saying that I was looking into the whole army telecoms thing, was the whole dedication thing with the army, I dont think I could do it. Computing is something I'd love to go into and I did try the whole A level computing at college but the course was pants in my opinion. Hope your Uni course picks up :D

Agreed.

I can do more things on them then even some qualified people can.

I thought that too before I got a job, truth of the matter is, what you know and can do, chances are, only applies to a rather specific area, just like the proffesionals. But if you actually know how to setup stuff like AD, Exchange, SQL servers, DFS areas etc and have it all working seamlessly, getting the phone system to work, setting up printers on networks and get the machines to use only certain versions of drivers the list can go on and on :p Ohh and all that and dealing with other people while you work, sorting out their problems, it's not as easy as you might think :p

Things will come in time. Unless you turn to crime or drugs then you've never REALLY messed up.

Life has it's ups and some pretty awful downs but if you've got a head on your shoulders you'll be fine. Chin up :)

similar situation to the OP here :(

School -> crap highers (scottish A levels :p)
Uni -> Wrong kinda course (Software when I wanted Hardware)
College -> Crap crap tutors and eventually dropped out with depression :(:(
Now -> Stuck in retail at Morrisons :(

Really really need to get some motivation to dig out of this pit. Really couldn't care for education anymore either as they teach you to pass an exam :/

Do it then, if you don't wanna be in retail then go and find something that suits you better. what you want to do? And I really agree, most of the stuff they teach you is specifically designed to get you to repeat it like a parrot onto an exam paper. Which, to say the least, is SO useful for real life.

My god, I still have an exact design in my head for the entire of the interiour. My parents said they might finance it

Im in the sameish boat, went to college for 4 years doing IT, get sick of it took a dead end job, dead end job is getting me down.

Im thinking of going back into to education or starting up my own small business, either will be hard, I will go from earning £850 a month to maybe £400 for weekend work.

Your never too old to learn somthing new, the younger the better, its when you get a kid and house when its too late.

Same as my life really, I stayed the course in college as it was easy but the course was a new one and the tutors guranteed a pass with a a decent amout of work, somthing to do with getting a good pass rate on the 2 years of the course made it stick at the college.

I bought the book they told me to buy and I could have passed every option about 7 of them from reading the book.

Teaching is a con during college years.

Starting up your own small buisness will be hard but can be really rewarding, I've known people do it and be really successful and not only that, but enjoy it as well.. Which is always good.

Ok Spie, incase your wondering "Damn chris1712, wtf is the lanvan?"

Well here it is, my LanVan 2006 Concept.

Its basically a double decker bus, pimped out to like a lan centre, and obviously its mobile, touring the UK. Plus inside theres a small hardware store (sponsored by ocuk ofcourse! and also a 1337/geek clothing section.

Poorly mockup this image about 4 months ago in a drunken stupor :p . I''ve pasted my face on the big guy in the door, and Zefan's on the chick outside :D .

If the lady at the front is a bit much, please tell me first because i really dont want a suspension lol.

Well there you go. I've got plans for this sucker i tell thee, it will also run in conjunction with I-Series lans, transporting gamers from each region. Eventually there will be a lan van in each county, and once a month they will meet up in a massive car park/industrial estate (ocuk hq???!) and hae a huge competition. Hot dog i hope i get the chance to do this one day.

Spie mate, if you want us to do a massive presentation and stuff on it, shout us a holler time, its a chance to expand you ocuk empire :D !
