MW2 is not going to appear on the Wii though, and the Wii is a completely different market than the 360 and PS3 - it is not aimed at being "the PC replacement", it is aimed at doing what Nintendo have always done, offering light and fun games.
You cannot blame Nintendo, who are not even going after FPS market really, for the failings of Microsoft and Sony with the 360 and PS3.
I can sortof sympathise with the developers/publishers in creating a unified platform (no point making dedicated server stuff just for PC) when so many people pirate the games.
Alkso you can bet the host is going to close the server every time he gets killed.
The Wii has shown Microsoft, Sony & publishers alike that there are quite few million more people out there willing to buy games & console if they are catered for correctly.
Is there any reason now this game wont be pirated to death? Surely they'll still be punkbuster and some dvd copywriting?
and the several thousand people who've canceled preorders would have bought it, but may now pirate it.
Well saidYeah but this entitlement factor is what is leading to stuff like this happening.
Under the normal run of things if you don't like something or you are unhappy about a part of it you just don't buy it, you don't have it, and life goes on.
With PC games though it seems peoples natural mentality if they're unhappy about something about the game is "oh Ill just pirate it instead now". Can you not see how illlogical that argument is? If you like it enough to pirate it then why shouldn't you have to pay for it? In the real world if something is too expensive for you - you do without.
It doesn't work like that in anything else - if you order a meal at a restaurant and end up not liking it (but there's nothing actually wrong with it) you don't just decide not to pay for it. If you go and watch a film in the cinema and hate it you're not entitled to a refund, etc.
Again I'm playing Devils Advocate really, I'm no saint but the entitlement logic some people use is totally retarded. You're not entitled to steal something if it's "good enough that it's worth stealing, but not up to your standard to buy".
ScumWhoa, I wanted to buy this as I bought 4 and WaW, no dedi servers? Oh well, off to download it from torrents when it's leaked then...
Matchmaking is so much better anyway, and theres private games for clan matches.
He gets killed by someone better than him and kicks them. He can do that because he's the host. Someone doesn't like his connection, so he leaves. When he accesses the matchmaking, it puts him right back in with the same douche he just tried to leave.
Because you instantly get put into a real, populated server with no stupid rules like "NO GRENADE LAUNCHER" where you can do whatever you want. You can still join games with your clan, you can still have clan matches.

Most of the people ripping this probably have no idea how it works, although I agree for clans it isn't ideal, it's not true that there are no clans on the console versions. Clan matches are as easy to arrange as ever.
Although incorporating both would be best I guess.
