DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

Thinking about getting this mainly for the SP game.

Couple of quick questions (to save wading through all the pages).

Is the Xbox 360 controller and/or flightstick support available?

How does it care to (for me) the classic all time rally game, Magnetic Fields 1999 Rally Championship?

I've seen (Hafren) Sweetlamb mentioned. Are all the courses based on real world locations and are they the full length or abridged?

Are you blocked if you can't place high enough on a leg, or do the stages advance anyway?

360 is definitely supported and quite well apparently, but wheel is preferable

can't comment on this

they are based on real locations, but I am not sure how accurate they are. Pike's peak is coming soon :)

stages advance, but if you finish the event in the bottom 3 you get relegated down a league to a lower difficulty for the next event.

You get 15min to complete the Stages, if you DNF/Retire in any of the Event Stages that's it. End of Event, you finish the Current Event at whatever place you went out at but can go on to the NEXT Event in the Championship if there is one.

E.g: You have a Championship that consists of Three Events, Wales, Greece and Monte Carlo and each Event has x Stages, if for example you Completed Wales and were doing Greece 3 of x and wrecked the Car, DNF/Retired that's it for Greece, you can only go on to Monte Carlo.

If you finish in the top 3 Places of a Championship you get promoted to the next Tier Championships, if you are in the BOTTOM 3 you get demoted to the previous Tier Championships, if you're not in the Top or Bottom 3 you keep doing the same Tier Championship.

You also carry Damage you pick up during a Rally and can only repair/Change Set Up every other Stage, you get 30mins to Repair or take Penalties for everything over the 30mins. Your repair speed/skill depends on your hired Engineers, it's like a micro-management type game within the Game.

Hope that makes sense? :p

Ooooo

Just bought the Sierra Cosworth...

Is it me or is this car terrible? It feels like a total barge!

Is there any way to change car mid championship?

Yeah as much as I like the car IRL I couldn't get the hang of it in the game. The turbo lag is horrible on slippery courses too, the beemer feels much more nimble and responsive

Not on that car isn't not :P

It feels fast from around 4.5k revs upwards but it only lasts a few moments then it's in the next gear and out of boost again! Maybe shorter gearing would help

Edit:
DG that's a mega time for Pra d alart- Nice one :)

really need to get back into this.
keep getting the urge to play but I must be so far behind you guys now from not knowing the tracks that I think I'll wait until they add hill climbs.

been occasionally popping in game to experience the sound though :D

Same here, I've just been so busy tonight.

Does anyone want to take ownership of the club? I can transfer owership via the website. I just haven't got time to set up any more leagues at the minute.

Never get bored of them sounds :D especially the 205 when its up near the high revs.

just won the professional event. 1st in all rallies.

on one of the welsh stafes so funny was 45 secs upto line. cooked it a little, hit bit ticker tape :( 15 sec penalty but still 30 secs up :D

got all group b cars now.

I like how there is very real differences in how each car handles. In Dirt 2 and 3 pretty much every car handles the same.
