DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

I was weary of this at launch with it being Codemasters, they have been a bit pap over recent years.

I have not purchased the game yet but I have to say, the league system they have implemented looks superb.

This is certainly not the case for this game, they really have excelled themselves, buy it, you will not be disappointed.

Anyway, like it so far. Looks pretty good all maxed out. Was getting between 30 and 40 fps so was about to go lower settings when I noticed the cards were only running around 600/700mhz each.

Seems to work better is crossfire is turned off, for me at least.

Seems ok with setting afr.

Do quite like the game.

However I suck on pretty much anything but tar.

Not figured out a nice way to configure hand break, so end up not using on hairpins and the like.

if anyone fancies doing me a favour . can you do a sweet lamb run with the pug 205 t16 and just tell me with friends comparison where my position is ?

mate says its number 2. want to know whos number 1 :D

A couple of mates have been doing the Plains Rally this weekend in their old Escorts  Makes me feel a bit of a tit pretending with a toy wheel behind a monitor to be honest :o

The game has actually encouraged me to get to some rally/hill climb events this year! Going to one on the 30th all tarmac but should be good fun to watch

My dad let me skive off school and spectate the RAC with him back in the day :D good times but it's nothing like actually competing :(

As for the game, Roy Walker sums it up for me.

It's early access, it's not going to be perfect, it's not far from it though for me!

They are saying this about hill climb:

Pikes Peak is really coming together now. It’s such a different challenge tearing up the hill with no co-driver giving you instructions. You really have to learn the route and there is plenty to learn. From a simulation angle we’ve improved the way we model the Aerodynamics. The Hillclimb cars have some extreme wing setups and this extra component of the simulation has given us plenty to layer back into the rally cars you are already driving, we’ll be getting on the case with that as soon as we can.

Another key element of Pikes Peak is the change in altitude. The difference in air pressure has a huge impact on the power the engine can produce and how much downforce is created by those big wings. Power loss with altitude is something we already simulate (you may have noticed a difference in car performance between Wales and Greece) but in Pikes Peak you actually get to feel the power drop as you climb. I’ll talk a bit more about Hillclimb next week so watch this space.”

I can't wait!

Gotta give the game some credit, it is very well polished for something that's in early access, when I stream it I get people asking me is it worth getting, 100% yes, it's fantastic from the get go and it's only going to get better with the extra content that will be arriving.

DFGT will be officially supported soon :D

o on to the shopping list, below is everything you've said you have and what I've passed on to the dev team this evening to start work on.

What we plan on doing is working our way down the list as we continue through early access so that in theory we'll have pretty much everything covered by the end. There might be the odd occasion where we end up adding something further down the list if it turns out to be not much work after adding another wheel. It's possible some of the harder to get hold of wheels such as the Accuforce might take a little longer as we'll need to talk to the manufacturer. I also can't promise we'll tick every single one of these off the list but I can promise we'll do our best to.

Don't feel disheartened if your wheel happens to be in the bottom section either, you guys who have posted in this thread make up a small section of our player base, when we scale that up to how many players we do have it's still worth us looking at so please don't think we'll just brush those off. We want as many people to be able to enjoy DiRT as possible
