DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

Well, I will get a bit of time in this weekend, but after that (with work and boss realising am competent means am just getting overloaded with development work I never signed up for!) it's going to be a long time before I get enough time in to actually learn tracks....

I will relish what little time I have with it tomorrow :(
 
Got this working now.. bought a new gfx card - for some reason I thought my 4870 was DX11 compatible. It's been a few years... Got a R9 270 instead

Really impressed by the sense of bouncing around through the stages. Definitely a granny driver compared to some of these videos - managed 3rd in the first 'open' tournament in career (no restarts).
A major improvement on all the other dirt games as well in terms of actual driving - compared to CM Dirt where you could brake for any corner in the last 5 metres. Also compared to RBR I find the G25 feels much better. I could never get it right with RBR for some reason.

Feels slightly less brutal than RBR (probably a good thing) - for example not completely destroying your engine by changing down a little early. Although I did do the daily stage last night and lost a headlight early on which was a bit of a challenge :D

Been playing this and finding it very hard using clutch and h shift managed to come second in one tournament which was good.

Any pointers as there is a limit to the restarts so I can keep trying the laps to perfect them :(

If you're talking about restarts in the career mode, you can restart as many times as you want. You just lose bonus points for the first 5, after that you can still restart.
 
Had been wondering about what the penalty was for restarting. Personally prefer to just take what I get and play through without restarting.. I'm sure I drive a lot slower for it though! (managed to avoid destroying my car so far at least, been a couple of hairy somersault moments)

If the lower competitions, you get like 10000 bonus points for no restarts. It takes 2000 off you every time you restart. So after 5 you get no bonus, but you can still restart as many times as you like
 
well i took the 4th place from yuo on epidaxi mason. with the 306. was a fast run did have me sweating. :p . beat you by about half a second.

i think with a perfect run i could do 1/2 secs off that time .

will have a go at the other times later too hot.:p

So as both the Leagues events changed today, might as well do a wee introduction.

In the Restarters League, we're heading to Pant Mwar (Reverse) with the Ford Escort MK II. This event will be available for a week, and you can restart as many times as you like.

In League 1, we're heading to Wales with Class As (ho-ho-ho). As this events theme is day & night, you'll do the same track twice, once in the day & once at night.

League Details are in my Sig, and can i just say its nice to see new names joining up!

I was quite surprised to win the league 1 one as I think I was 9 seconds off after messing up two corners on the first stage... Then I messed up the same two corners just not quite as bad in the second stage... but I still made up 10 seconds in comparison :p I imagine everyone gets caught out by the same two corners due to the late calls.. (right 5..... turning the corner... into immediate square right... thanks.)
Needs some more players!
