DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

It must have been a controller set up problem or something but it just wouldn't hold a straight line for love nor money, just pinging the stick from one side to the other to try and correct a never ending tank slapper.

Some cars are more twitchy than other, such as the MKII Escort has that problem, you can counter the effects in the car setup though by adjusting a few things, it is very simulated this game and holds true to how cars would handle in the real world, from a developers standpoint.

Anyway, we have RallyX update in a few don't we? :D

Can you imagine what would happen if you turned the wheel from full lock one way to the other in a tenth of a second in a real car on gravel at speed? .......

No ****, I've been doing track days for 20 odd years and owned umpteen big power RWD cars so I'm not an idiot, I was referring to how it was behaving with a controller and it's complete lack of ability to stick to a moderate line.

its playable, just hard, and not as good results as a wheel, but definately playable.

It is a hard game with a controller, I hate how you have no steering unless you are accelerating, If you brake and then release the brake and try to steer with out accelerating again you get nothing, no turn at all. Or at least I don't. I'd hate to think it was only me.

To get the best out of this game a wheel is a must even though there are some that do well with a 360.

Its a rally sim well done not like need for speed, gta, etc where a 360 pad would do, went from a 360 pad to a gtdf wheel.

Its like flying sims to get the best out of them a Yoke System and rudder pedals are needed.

Buy a secondhand gtdf wheel thats what a few have done l picked a almost new one up for£45, its a great bit of kit look at Dg he use's one.

Could anyone help me?

Since the last update I haven't been able to drive at all because my wheel feels like it's just spinning with no FFB it's so weak. What is the best way to change this? (And is there a generally accepted good set up for a logitech DFGT?)

Cheers!

Sounds like the wheels locking up, if you tap the brakes rather than hold them you might get better results.

The difficulty is its just so much harder to proportionally steer, throttle or brake on controller, its like we're driving with basically an on/off throttle, brake and steering.

Why are you being so defensive/aggressive?

I never called you an idiot, you said you were pinging stick back and forth so that's all I've got to go on.

Before I got my wheel I was playing fine with the 360 controller.

you may want to check the steam forums and around for xbox joypad settings. some make a big difference.

you must remember this is more sim though than arcade so a joypad will always limit you.
