DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

. It is a very tough and punishing game with punctures, broken lights at night, damage that carries over into the next stage etc
Isn't that precisely what people want?

Actually reading that just made it an instant buy for me.

Hopefully it stays this way

How is it in a direct comparison to RBR? It still looks very arcadey from videos (not got it yet), short breaking distances, car not sliding around that much etc.

depends how you push the cars.

i go flat out at everything :p

its not arcadey though. actually quite punishing.

you definitely have to learn the cars and tracks and different settings. it aint dirt2/3 casual slide into corner. you catch a rock you pop a tyre go slightly out of bounds 15 secs penalty.

you spend a lot of time restarting :D

just got the stratos man its a handful :p

tried the pug 205 ti  that is a beast on monaco. so fast.

Bought myself the Thrustmaster TH8A Shifter, should be here in a few days. Hopefully a good upgrade from the G27 one.

@Above, not tried yet, but I will fiddle around with settings and post results.

with a 280x 1ghz and 4670k @4ghz @ 1080 I'm getting 110 ish fps on most tracks, some of the wales forest ones take me down to 80ish.

all maxed apart from msaa I think was 2x but I'm not convinced it's working since my graphics look unchanged and no performance hit although I couldn't notice any jaggies anyway

maybe it conflicts with something?

I did a Barrel roll and got

BTW are the stages accurate at all or just made up tracks with roughly the same terrain as rl?

If anyones curious what the graphics options are (all as high as they go)

AF/smoke shadows are underneath I couldn't be bothered to make a new screeny for 2 settings

No mouse usage in game is annoying though hate navigating menus with a keyboard/controller

Looking from the videos posted I'm a bit disappointed by the graphics.

would have thought they would have advanced a bit by now.

As someone mentioned in this thread this game is based on a old engine and it shows. (not the new upcoming F1 2015 engine)

:(

Can you share settings for DFGT please mate

Doh - games got a built in setup for the Thrustmaster 500 wheel and it doesn't understand 1080 degrees of rotation, have to change the wheel to 340 in the Window's control panel.

And where's the FFB, boy is it lacking :(

Having said that I don't think the GFX are too bad but my 780ti only managed an average of around 40fps in the benchmark. I was on default Ultra settings with 4K res.

couldn't get racenet to work...

decided to try unlinking steam incase it was a different steam account.... now won't let me link to steam just gives a stupid ****** error

their website doesn't even work in firefox either because their secure connection certificates seems to not work at all it just won't let you use their websites.

guess their back end is crap and looking at their forum seems to be an issue complained about for YEARS....

Yeah I can't link my steam account. Not sure if that part is still in beta or not? Realised I could use my H shifter and clutch after choosing the wheel as my preset. No more flappy paddles and slow shifts thank god.

Anyone else on AMD notice that in car view locks your gpu usage to 50% and the gpu clocks drop a bit? Outside cam is amazing, 120fps at 1440p (except in wales where the same 50% thing happens), but in car is just not smooth even though it shows about 55fps average.

Drivers?
