i can't justify spending £280 for card when you could play the same games without a problem for £100 less, will wait for reviews...

when will OCUK have stock for those cards (after the 60 you guys already have will be sold) could it take as long as a month ?

I usually find them, like you say old and tired.

wow, now thats a proper benchmark, a min of 21 completely maxed out at 1900x1200? I know thats impressive for crysis, but damn it was released in the 8*** era and its still a bugger

Ahhhhhh why quote?

Oh and the problem with Crysis is its coding and stuff. Nothing to do with bad graphics cards, it shouldn't even be benchmarked tbh its that ****.

Who actually plays Crysis any way? You walk around look at the tree and water think ooooooo kill some people and thats it.

That is an impressive benchmark...and the 3D Mark 06 score is only 2000+ more than what I get with my 4870X2 and the Vantage score about 3000+ more. But either way...gives one the impression that maybe these benchmarks are really not that accurate...however KUDOS to the pic of the actual card :p :D

That's what I'm like, albiet I've just sold my 4870x2...

I don't get why some people are selling their cards now...seriously it would be better to wait a few months...that's what I will be doing...and I don't think I'll even want to sell my 4870X2 when I get the 5870X2...

Saying that on closer inspection, where it does really well seems to be the newer games, which are more likely to be GPU limited I guess.

Meh, I'm an idiot.. I already know I am..

Right now, I'm running on my AMD stock fan and my onboard....

On thursday, I should have a brand new high end air cooler and a 5870 to fill the void :D

Thats not that impressive... IIRC my 260 GTX SLI gets quite a bit better fps than that in crysis benchmark on the same settings - albeit 3 runs not 1... and win 7 not vista.

You can't just do a straight £/$ conversion and add VAT. There is also import duty to be added, plus the market will bear bigger profits here on Treasure Island, so I'd say you are looking at $1=£1 at launch.

And why not? If they really are so much faster than the existing NVidia cards, then at $1=£1 you can still sell the new cards are they will be competitive.

Suddenly, hoovering up a couple of HD4890s for £230 the pair sounds pretty good actually.

Yeah, I've told myself that if the 5870's overpriced from my point of view, that I'd just get two 4890's and crossfire, cheaper, and about the same performance.

You're assuming that there will be 4890's to buy - where are the HD4870X2's?

Fastest single GPU on the planet, still can't run a 2yr old game on all the highest settings at decent FPS:o:o:o

Seriously does no one ever sit back, and just think...........we are getting shafted;)

Indeed I do.

I believe these "generations" are all cash cows... I believe they could easily bring out just one amazing GPU.. better than we have now, and cheaper..
