FIrst, heyf olks, as I'm new around here (the OC got cheaper prices, with delivery inc, then my local Polish shops :P)

And to the subject, if the test shows that the single card is as fast my pair of 280s, but uses much less power, then I'll switch to it and wait. If nVidia will release the 300 series and make a nice improvement over Ati, then I'll head for nVidia (as I want physx and cuda), but if it will suck, I'll just get 2nd 5870.

If none of those things happen, I'll keep my 280s until further notice :)

ok i see where you are with comparing prices but then other factors would come into it.

reportedly a new 5870 can hit 188w on load. a 295 hits over 400w so it then enters a different market. those who have a 450w psu can upgrade to one of these without changing there psu. they can't run a 295 without upgrading there psu aswell which then incurs more cost.
+1

You're probably right. I was thinking that the small exhaust vent meant that it didn't need anything bigger and that was a good sign.

What I really need to know is how it's tdp will compare to my 260. My loop has limited cooling capacity and I can't afford to be dumping more heat into it.

No, You always need more exhaust area than inlet as the working air expands as it is heated
making the card longer is not helping, some large holes in the board and some of the hotter components on the backside venting out the back would be better or if they feel tied to the 2 slot space envelope an umbilical I/O with the whole rear of the card venting would be the best solution....but that would maybe add $5.00 per card manufacturing costs.

In all honesty they should be sticking the damm things Directly on the motherboards by now ! and we could all have cooler quieter PC's

ALL depends on the price that will make or brake it, if over 280 il pass if under or even 270 then i may consider, payday this friday so COME ON ATI

I'd be surprised, the NDA lasts until a time, not just a date.

Indeed. I was hoping it would have been earlier in the day though.

For us the time is 05:01 tomorrow, if Guru3D are X hours ahead of us then they may well have to wait until 05:01+X their time.

Basically, it should be about 16 hours before anything can officially come out I reckon, regardless of whereabouts in the world you are.

Ah yes, I have just seen that information regarding the NDA being lifted at 05:01.
