Discussion On The ATI Radeon 5*** Series Before They Have Been Released Thread

if this is the case then OCUK have hiked there prices up massivly

How do you think Spie affords new Ferraris!! OCUK always hike prices for big releases as they are the UK market domaniant seller and have the stock to back up sales unlike many other sellers (even ones who make more money from other areas). Just wait a few weeks/month and then it'll all be on special offer and stock will be more freely available. Only a fool buys on release day!

and also ATI know they have a decent card on there hands and also the lead over Nvidia until xmas at least. best thing they can do is undercut them and price them around the £280 mark as that would really screw Nvidia over

lead until xmas at least???

Where do you get your info from? You don't know if it will be better than a 295, and you don't know when Nvidia will release the 300.

PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER MAN!!

Can't see them giving their cards away, best thing they can do is charge a premium whilst they can and only lower them when they actually have some competition.

Over 100 pages of discussion omg! What's going to happen when the cards DO come out? :)

people will see that ATi have bought out a card which offers c80 percent performance at c80 percent price of nvidias current top offering, realise they'd been jizzing their pants over nothing and decide they should start doing somthing more useful with their life. or not :D

no one else has produced a DX11 card or are going to from the sounds coming from the Nvidia camp.

And the problems reported by Nvidia regarding Yields they wont get them sorted this side of xmas surely?

as for being faster. we'll soon see tomorrow. ;)

I just remember always being disappointed with how expensive graphics cards are when they are released and just how badly the comparison with US $ prices is.

It's just my conjecture, being a cynical Brit, that the prices will be higher than people are predicting.

Let's look at the current prices of Nvidia cards:

295 = ~£340 and the 285 = ~£250

If the 5870 is supposed to be faster than the 295 and the 5850 faster than the 285, why would they be lower priced?

I think AMD definitely want to do some damage to Nvidia while they can, so don't expect the cards to be terribly expensive.

That's based on the presumption the 5870 is roughtly equal to the 295 GTX.

If the 5870 is superior, then we may see the price being equal.

Though keep in mind there is a significant different in die size regardless, AMD would have no problem undercutting Nvidia as it stands.

Anyone think this is credible? Posted a couple of pages back but the conversation is so intense I think it got missed.. :D

Apologies if this has already been posted..

Erm - because that's what they did last year with the 4850 and 4870 cards?
