Whats the point, the gaps between the screens are just annoying

Agree'd.

The most important parts of the screen would always be cut out i.e. Slap bang in the middle, where your character is in an MMO or your crosshair in an FPS game.

Makes it totally pointless.

Apparently the launch was supposed to be at 2pm, but some places jumped the gun and all the details went by 11:02. ATI/AMD were shocked at the speed which the details were taken up by eager users.;)

Wow this thread has certainly grown today, been at work all dya followed by the quacks, are there any benchmarks yet or are we still waiting? (saves me looking through multiple pages for info)

No matter how you look at it, those massive lines are too much of a hinderance to make it feasable to play with , nevermind the cost. BUT this is a very big but, its more the implications of the technology in the future, im sure screen manufacturers could just make 3x2 screens fixed together especailly for high def gaming with very small lines between the screens to give the insane 8kx2k resolutions.

Untill that day, the only other time i could imagine buying into this technology if the game supported it so that it could do things like pputting maps, character stats etc etc on the other screens so you could see everything all at once ( much like sup com).

Depends on the game, because for fps, the horizontal border in the middle would be annoying. A 3 by 3 config would be better, but then you'd still have the same aspect ratio, just a mahoosive screen.

5 monitors in a portrait orientation side by side might be good, less lines and means the character is in it's own screen

i am trying to picture how the game would look being so short and fat (lol wide), wouldnt it just look a bit odd? the proportions of the screen would be crazy.

Next innovation .... Frameless monitors!

Or better yet, modular monitors that can daisychain internally. Say you can remove some of the sides of the monitors, slot them together put in some screws and bob's your dad's creepy brother. I think DisplayPort allows daisy chaining of monitors.

Next thing we know someone will line up about 15 monitors around them in a circle and instead of turning the mouse he will just turn around in a swivvel chair to see what's going on behind him
