Disgusting display of Racism

Society as definately got more racist since I was a kid.

Now it seems racism is allowed in certain circumstances.
I'm 50 and I would say there is far less racism than when i was a teenager- it's socially unacceptable to most. Also, people are way more accepting of gay people.

There will always be cases, but the overt horrible behaviour I used to see as a matter of course has mostly gone away.

The media would have us believe it's worse. In truth I agree it's much better. But the media keep pushing racism because it benefits them by getting them a lot of attention.

Pretty sure Malcom X wanted racial separation.

Very interesting read, here's the whole speech for anyone who's interested.

Basically if you're white, you can't possibly be poor, need any help, and automatically have maximum privilege.

No such thing as poor or struggling white people in the UK at all, nope.

Only non whites need all the help. Those poor blacks and browns, they can't do anything unless we hand them everything on a silver platter and pay for everything they need.

While I guess its true that there are more privileged white people in the west, surely that's because there are simply more white people there? Am I supposed to believe that Will Smith and Beyonce's kids are automatically poor and underprivileged just because they are black?

Yes but based upon merit not only the colour of their skin.

It isn't based solely on the colour of their skin though is it?

Its not about it being easier. Surveyor, incorrectly, stated that this would allow them to take up places at uni.
There's nothing stopping them.

Can't put words in Surveyors mouth but it makes it easier for these kids to go to uni, whats wrong with that?

If you want to make it easier for a black kid to go to uni then tackle poverty at a younger age. Give them a better start to life so they can focus more on education and attain better grades.
Race isn't the barrier, poverty is. Poverty is something that affects kids from all races in this country.
As pointed out already the most disadvanted group are poor, white males.

All this is doing is potentially giving them less debt when they leave uni.

Easier... based on skin colour? No, that is the definition of racism and something we have tried to minimize in society not promote.

All you are saying is that it's racist, not that it's necessarily a bad thing...

It's not making it easier for them to go.

You can't retrospectively give an 18 year old a better life, but you can give them some support at higher education so they don't have to think about a part time job and money, and can focus on education to attain better grades (which this scholarship does).

The scholarship is means tested, it's not going to well off black kids.

Yep and as well as MLK you also had anti-racism organisations like the "COLOR BLIND SOCIETY", why was it called that you ask? because the ideal for a society where racism no longer existed was one where people didn't see each other as either white people or black people as that's what racists throughout all of history have done.

They're basically undoing decades of progress in creating a more equal (less racist) society in the name of fighting racism. I don't think people have been this aware of a persons skin colour since segregation existed in America. Thanks BLM.

The truth is that there is an element in all races that do not want equality, they want to keep and promote their racial identity because it can be used as leverage. We are all tribal at base level it is a natural thing for most people. It's pointed out when white people do it, it should be pointed out when humans of other races do it too. We shouldn't be nannying anyone.

It's going to people who have already made it to uni. And a good one at that. It should be going to those who haven't to give them that opportunity.
