Disgusting display of Racism

It was a open secret Yorkshire cricket club had issues with racism even back when I was playing 20 odd years ago.

That’s my cousin and is as credible as it gets. I was was shocked when I heard about the abuse he suffered back then had no idea. That’s all he ever wanted to do was play cricket, trained constantly and was incredibly talented for his age, head and shoulder above us all.

his mum and dad were crushed when they found out as he had to give them a heads up before it got reported. Especially his dad, it was his pride and joy knowing his son played for Yorkshire. As a life long cricket fan himself, still playing in his late 60s, it’s really struck him hard not knowing what his son was going through at the age of 14-19 when he should have been enjoying his dreams come true.

So it turns out he is a racist himself - an Anti-Semite of course.

The Times uncovered an exchange with former Warwickshire and Leicestershire player Ateeq Javid.

In it, Rafiq makes offensive remarks about an unidentified Jewish person in 2011. He and Javid appeared to joke about another Asian cricketer not paying a dinner bill.

Rafiq wrote: 'Hahaha he is a Jew. Probs go after my 2nds again.' He later added: 'How wrong is that? Only Jews do that sort of s***.'

He has lost all credibility, he's just as bad as those he was condemning - worse maybe as this is blatant racism behind someone's back, he doesn't even have the excuse of it being banter to their face. I said this whole thing was about power, it's looking more like I was right.
 
There is very little self-awareness. He can talk about his age and how long ago it was, etc., but you have to be squeaky clean yourself to start accusing people of racism, as in this day and age, people will dig through your past.

The racism he's unearthed within English cricket is still valid of course.

He has apologised, fine, but how is it different from anything he has experienced, he has done the same thing in the past. He claims he is a different person today and he was 'young'.

Could the same not have been said for all he has accused?
