Dishonored 2

Well, I'm sadly going to wait a while until I play it. My 980 ti just doesn't feel like it's working as well as it could with the engine. It's a shame.

Something isn't right with it as last night, I tested ALL the settings (I'll take pictures of my notes) and only 3 options made a impact in FPS from min to max.

And even then, those settings only gave 5 or so fps gain...

I set my game to Borderless Windowed Mode and now I can't get it back to "Fullscreen mode". I change it, and it says to save the settings. I click OK and then it's back on Borderless Window Mode!

Normally something I could fix with an .ini file change, but not seeing one in the documents folder for Dishonored 2. Anyone been able to fix this issue?

It was on UE3, they are now using their own borked version of id tech 5, god knows why they went down this route and didn't use UE4 .

I guess after spending so much on id they had to put that money to some use :S

Wonder if deleting the texture cache like with other id tech 5 games would help with the stuttering.

I'm really disillusioned with PC Gaming atm. Bought a 1070 and a 3440x1440p monitor and have had nothing but problems with the games I want to play. Lost count on how many games do not natively support 3440x1440p and cross platform games like this just seem to be **** on PC when in reality this game should run amazing on a 980 for example considering it does on a Playstation Pro.

Wasted another grand on PC components... should have just kept my 970 and 1080 setup.

One of the reasons I went 27" 1440p instead of widescreen, seems like more work to get the widescreen support on everything.

Hopefully in the future widescreen support is better, because it does offer a good experience if supported.

This game definitely has issues of it's own though when it comes to performance, it's one of the worst ports I've played in a while so far.

Must admit, that is why I went 27" 1440p G Sync as that does sorta help smooth out some of the messes released just lately.

But its a bit of a shame this is happening a lot lately. It seems all AAA games on PC have some sort of performance hiccup or issue that requires a patch within days of release.

I think it's more to do with people pushing for early release, the publishers want the game out the door, the developers would probably rather spend time fixing bugs/issues.

The old "release it and day 1 patch" seems to be very common these days which is a shame. Very few games come out and work properly out of the box, especially on PC where lots of different hardware combinations can exist.

Eh? Aside from overwatch, what other recent games have poor 21.9 support? Again, if there are any games that have serious issues, all you have to do is run flawless widescreen and click one button for a 21.9 profile or go and change a couple of lines in a config. When it comes to Pc gaming and modding, tweaking, it is by far the easiest thing to do, even more so than installing sweetfx.

Most of the people that complain about no 21.9 support in certain games are just lazy and expect everything to work without taking 2 minutes to do something.

To just get a game looking good and perform properly these days requires far more faff than getting 21.9 to work. Besides, pretty much all the biggest titles this year have launched with native 21.9 support.

PS. there are 21.9 videos of dishonoured 2 on youtube and the game looks great in 21.9.

And this just goes to show once again why you shouldn't be pre-ordering, best of all, no doubt the same people who have pre-ordered previous broken games and moaned about them being broken will still continue to pre-order :D :o :p

I tried locking it to 30fps last night using nvidia, but it simply did not work. So not sure if the setting of having pre rendered frames to 1 works.

I'm going to try using RTSS tonight to limit FPS to 30. I don't mind lower FPS in certain scenarios. It's the stability, I hate dips and stutters.

Agreed, it does seem to be that way.

Guess its simple. do not pre order and wait for patches etc when it comes to PC gaming.

Its bloody annoying when multiple characters are having conversations in the game it throws you out. Thought that this is something they would have picked up on early into the game and stopped it. Bloody annoying.

I've had 21.9 for nearly a year now x34 and only game that doesn't work well is overwatch.. cause of competitive advantages they wouldn't allow real 21.9 support due to increased fov..

Fallout 4 had a few problems too but easily fixed within minutes..

All my other games have been perfect outta the box

Bf1
Bf3
Bf4
Witcher 3
Dirt 3
Soma
Tomb raider
Trine series
The division
Elite dangerous
Call of duty
Rayman
Fifa 17
Titan fall
Dishonoured 1 and 2

Davewhite what games are u having problems with?

This has great at 21:9 support.

Shame to hear about all the performance issues people are having.

Much as I loved Dishonored, I may wait on this until some issues have been patched out - especially as I use 3440x1440 res!
