Seriously - If you've not updated the mobo bios that would be the next step before any more RMA's
I just spent a few nights trying to help a friend diagnose his gfx card problems on a gigabyte ga-pa55-ud5 (when he put in a second gfx card for SLI it would come up with error 43 and disable one card)
We fault tested every component laboriously with all the usual steps...after 2 nights of me head scratching i double checked he was on the latest bios - no... 1 bios update later - all was working fine
TL: DR - Make sure your on the latest BIOS!
It may not fix the problem you have, but its important to rule it out

Sorry if this has been mentioned earlier but I don't have time to go through all the posts right now.
I had a similar situation in the past, in the end it turns out that I just had a faulty cable. Also have you run a stability test to scan for artefacts or defects? If not I'd recommended doing so.

Tried 5 different cables.
Id go with the gtx as i like nvidia better but i think the 6850 gets slightly better fps but i think its a little more expensive. Its really up to you. Not a huge difference but if your not bothered about the money you should go for the 6850 i think.
I flashed the bios this morning, I was really 'scared' if you like, but I did it and I havent seen change since. Although ive been able to unlock 2 additional CPU cores so that was good

A few. But more importantly it's not a 460, which God obviously doesn't want you to have
Not strictly true. Depends as always on the game you're playing and your settings etcetc.
Bit-tech's review of the 6850
The GTX 460 and HD6850 are so close together the biggest difference really is that one has PhysX and the other Eyefinity.

EDIT - also, the 460 generally has a quieter cooler

Basically if he gets the lines tommorow im just gonna send mobo, psu and card together. get refund for the card and replacement for w/e was killing the GPU. Sigh, its gonna be a long week. hopefully the card is alright.
