Dissapointed....

Ive tried everything from that topic over there, only thing that is left for me is to test the card on another system and if that fails, refund on monday.

I appreciate the time you actually spent looking for someone else that has the same problem mate. thanks a lot
 
I see the GTX 460 seem to be causing a lot of problems. My screen is blank with the same card and someone else on a different forum has the same problem as me. Is it the Gigabyte by any chance?

This is ridiculous like ive said before.

I believe something is wrong in my system though. I might just get a refund and get myself the EVGA 1gb instead, 10 quid more.
 
Ok then, the plan is:

Test on another rig, if he gets lines its either another faulty GPU which is not in 100% or my mobo is frying the card.
If he doesnt get anything, monitor, mobo
 
The worst luck. If I lived closer I would bring my socket 775 system over and drop your 460 in to see if the problem was replicated on my system.

Perhaps put a message out on the wanted section of the MM to see if some kind person who lives in the area can help you out (as some one has already said). Failing that, I would buy some more components like PSU and mobo and have them as backup/test equipment for future builds or sell them on once you find the problem with your system.

Have you spoken to OCUK and explained the situation? Perhaps they could arrange a courier to pick up all of the components from you and test them to find out what is causing the problem.

I have had to return 2 orders to OCUK (incorrect order received, and a faulty item) and they arranged a courier pickup at my request with no extra cost to myself - the way most respectable e-tailers work.
 
The way I see it there are only two possibilities.

1. A batch of cards with the same fault.
2. Something on your system is zapping cards in exactly the same way every time and damaging them such as to cause the exact same highly specific fault every time.

Both are extremely unlikely. But for me No.2 is so very remote as to almost be impossible. Faults with psu's or mobo's simply do not damage gcards with such repeated surgical precision.

Don't waste time just RMA the card.

How is it remotely possible for 3 cards to be faulty ? I just dont get it at all.
What do you think of just sending it, getting a refund, and buy a Evga 1gb instead ? This is Asus 768mb

This is my thought. Personally i cant see it being a bad batch as i dont see many others complaining about duff cards. Probably too late to say this but perhaps you should have asked OCUk to test the crad before sending out to verify it works. If something is the system is a mass GTX460 murderer, I would echo the others with either PSU or PCIe Slot.

Like I said, Its really nearly impossible for 3 cards to have the same problem.
Once again im stuck then.

Should i:

Send this back, get a refund and buy EVGA 1GB Version ?
RMA All 3 ? PSU, MOBO, GPU.
Or what ? If I wanted to test it out on another system id have to wait a week, I dont want to waste time. What if its just simple screen tearing or something ?

Ive just noticed how many replies this thread has, id like to thank everyone who tried to help me and keep my spirit high. We'll get rid of this one soon!

RMA the Asus and go for the EVGA 1GB. Only if that then has the same fault RMA it plus the mobo and psu.

I'd wager the EVGA doesn't exhibit the same fault.

Can it be the monitor though ? What is the percentage of my PSU or PCI-E zapping the cards ? thats what bothers me the most. My power seems fine and so does the mobo. all cables are fine too.
 
Damn man thats really bad luck. Yeah i agree RMA that gpu and get the EVGA... obviously if that displays the same problem we can pretty much say the gpu is not the fault. Which definitely points the big finger to your system (mobo maybe even pci-e slot). If you say you got all the components recently from OcUK, be assertive and get them to help you, plus reclaim your postage costs. i doubt its the monitor but i would really need to see the problem with my own eyes. OcUK have to help you even if it means swapping everything and them paying all postage until you have a working computer with faults.

you really need to get up some pictures or something, from that statment there about screen tearing, it dosn't seem your too sure what tearing is

here is a picture of screen tearing, does yours resemble this in games,
Also what games have you tried with it that produces these lines?

Like I said, I cant capture the problem on a picture. its impossible to see.

Its not that, its faint white flickering lines all over my monitor.
 
The games I get this on are basically every game I play.
Its strange, what is the percentage of something zapping the cards in my rig then? Low/high ? Surely 3 cards with the same problem must mean the problem lies elswewhere, as the problem is exactly the same in all 3 cards.

Basically ingames, after I turn V.Sync on, it helps and gets rid of 40% of the lines. What ive noticed though that in games like oblivion, they only appear when the card is underload, as in, if I just look at the scenery, I dont see anything, but if I look at 5 NPC's cramped up together, I start to see them.

Even with Force vsync on I see the lines in CoD WaW etc.
Strangely enough vsync gets rid of ALL the lines in tf2.
 
when you test this card in a nother rig, just try the psu from the other rig in yours.
And if at all possible, if your card is verified ok in another rig, try the card from the other rig in yours.

you NEED at this point to get access to another pc to test all of your components.
