Distasteful vegan TV ad

What an odd perspective, just because we've always done something in the past doesn't mean we should continue to do so if we don't have to.
Is that what I said or was it merely a comment on reality to this point?

Or was it to do with the pie? True, I may not always eat steak and ale pie.

Well watch the documentary I posted then, see for yourself.

I was at this farm myself, if the regulations were anything other than a joke it would have been shut down, but it wasnt.

Alice Brough who was a pig vet in the industry, went vegan due to the things she witnessed.

If auditing and enforcement are lacking that is another thing again. I'm not under any delusions, in life in general more people than not only abide by regulations or rules when forced to even when they know better... but I do know there are plenty of places which do operate to a good standard.

...just highlighting things that people probably won't know...
How quiet would you want people to be if you were being put into a gas chamber?

TV on in the background (C4) as you do and an ad for 'viva vegan' came on. In the advert a couple order a delivery of pulled pork from "just meat", only to get a delivery driver deliver a live pig with a "free meat cleaver".

Actually made me furious taking over my TV with their vegan propaganda cobblers. I have no problem with them advertising the "advantages of veganism" but unsolicited insulting of those who eat meat on prime TV made me red with rage. My complaint is on the way to the ASA!

Ad is on YouTube but won't post it to give them the credits

I agree and found it quite distasteful and offensive critisicing and attacking people's dietary choices to promote your own product line.

If a meat/dairy producing company aimed an advert at critisising the diet of vegans would that be acceptable. I dont think so.

I agree. If I couldn't have hens I wouldn't have eggs.

But that's not going to happen. Obviously that's best. But few will give up eggs.

Its a super sensitive subject.. Because it makes people uncomfortable. And it makes people uncomfortable often if they are questioning thier choices.
Do I have more respect morally for vegans than meat eaters? Yes.
Am I full vegan. No.
Do I judge myself for that. Yes.
Could I do more? Yes.
Am I too selfish to not? Also yes.

Its uncomfortable to think about for sure.
I have to disagree. we are omnivores. of people choose to be vegan more power to them . I DONT feel guilty eating meat per se. I do feel a little guilty eating some meat more than others but a free range animal or something my dad shot I have zero guilt at all any more than any other animal. nn does a vegan feel guilty for every fly they squash on their windscreen, if not why not? that road leads to walking around with a little brush and not going anywhere.
my choice to cut down on meat would be environmentally driven not ethically..... and on that it's not black and white either because some meat is sustainable and some vegetables and fruit have more of a carbon footprint than some locally sourced meat .

and not eating eggs.....not for me. that means no cake, no pastry , no merangues..... (and no sausage and egg butties? ) no chance ;)

I do miss our pet chickens tho.... but they were too much work once we had a kid so we rehomed them.

If we didn't eat meat we would never have evolved to be anything more than prey.

All this talk is putting me in the mood for a lovely steak and ale pie.
I have one lined up on Saturday. not cheap... £13 but it's a family sized one for 5 of us. from my parents.local butchers . well worth the 200 mile drive to my folks for. literally the best pie I have ever had ;)

Personally I find a lot of vegetables utterly unappetising, to the point some make me feel revolted physically*
I’m vegan and hate veg too haha, especially mushrooms, devils work they are.

Edit: with regards to eating people after a plane crash, I call dibs on Jessica Alba if she’s on there, dead or alive I’m having a nibble.

I think the bit that bothers most is the trying to make it everyone has to feel the same way as you.
You want to be vegan, that's great.
Others want to eat meat. You don't need to try and push it onto others.

From a moralistic standpoint he does though. It's about ending animal suffering for unnecessary reasons. That doesn't just stop with one person becoming a vegan.

What I’d like to know is if all meat and meat products were banned immediately, how long would it take for us to be able to produce enough food for the nation?

for the time being here's my chick pea and veg vindaloo its on my list to make again in the next few days ,i keep tweaking it but tbf its next level already

Clearly i'm too stupid for this 4D-chess thinking but, why are you taking and posting a screenshot of a photo you took on your phone and not just posting the original photo itself?

Wouldn't likely be long. Fungus substitutes grow rapidly!
Additionally rearing animals is very land intensive vs crop growth.

I think a rather important question is whether or not people would rather eat genetically modified crops and/or genetically modified animals?

If we keep rearing animals for food they will eventually be edited beyond recognition with 'natural' being extremely expensive or more likely outright extinct as the Big Pharma doesn't want competition. Arguments about 'good' welfare kind of go out the window when the animal can't even move anymore for all the meat it's carrying.

Fungus? No **** that, I hate mushrooms, and tofu, and soya. In fact, I hate just about everything vegan. I would be malnutritioned. As for the animals, it’s them or me.

Obviously the first, but you knew that :p
:p

Actually FWIW I've reduced my meat consumption (if you exclude fish), more specifically mammals. If they could grow the stuff easily, affordably and healthily then I'd switch over no problem.

That's been a personal choice though.
