Divinity Original Sin

Gave in and bought it, currently downloading at the speed of snail on my crap connection. Bought the collectors version giving me a second copy... might do a give away thread shortly :D

Bump because why the hell aren't more people playing this? It's RPG of like the last 5 years plus 5 for all I know.

Finally got out of the starting town to do some quests involving combat last night.

Gotta say I really like the combat system. Not hitting your own melee guys with spells is really hard for me though. My Knight protagonist and Fighter Companion are getting sick of being stunned by my Wizard flinging lightning into the puddles they love standing in :p

You successfully got out of the starting town - WOW!!!

I've been wandering round the town, mostly aimlessly, for ages now! (although I'm my own worst enemy for not fully reading all of the dialogue so that could be partly why!)

When I did find an exit, just to have a quick battle, I think I might have wandered into a bit too tough an area because the first group I found wiped both of my characters out in one fell swoop! :D

Is there a "this quest is this way" sort of marker anywhere?

Also, what are people doing with all the junk they pick up? I've only just noticed that my characters can't run any more because they are carrying far too much carp!!!

There are dialogue ques as to where you should go or what you should be doing. The town commander casually mentions that the undead seem weaker in one particular direction, that you should try that first if you want to test yourself.

As to solving the murder, you have to actually go investigate the people and places connected with it. Bummer :)

Yeah I found out the hard way as well which direction is best to wander in.

After I spent ages walking around talking to people and doing sweet f all of course!

The game is definitely is old school in the way it doesn't hold your hand. I still have absolutely no idea how to craft anything.

I know, I know! I'm just too keen to get out and start ******* orcs and the like!!! :p

I really need to be more patient and read more of the dialogue!

I know you can barter with most NPC's (as long as they have gold to exchange by the looks of things??) but is there a "best" place to offload your junk?

Played for a bit with a Rogue/Assassin combo, game seems really in depth and I've been waiting for it for ages but now it's finally arrived I find myself unmotivated to play it.

Probably because it's summer, and I'm in a new place, and I'm enjoying being outdoors most of the time. Come winter maybe I'll dust this off.

Currently at level 7 and fighting the burning legion!

Word of advice, use your rainstorm spell and it will put out the fires and weaken them, then use ice bolt which severely damages the burning undead

I can only dream of level 7 - it took me about an hour last night to get to level 2!!!!

One thing about the spells is some don't seem to give any indication of any damage dealt - does this mean they actually don't deal any damage and just slow/chill/freeze etc limiting the targets ability to strike back?

I'll be picking this up some time in the next few weeks. I did enjoy Divinity 2: Developer's Cut, though it did get a very repetitive. I see there are lots of changes so hopefully they all work!

Not a big fan of this kind of turn-based combat, I thought we had moved past it, but it does look pretty good.

Edit- Turns out I backed it on KS right at the start!

This game has me chuffed on every level, and the icing on the cake? I just tried to hit a skeleton with a slashing weapon and couldn't work out why it did so little damaged... until I met Wulfram and read what he had to say. Oh, I've been robbed of so much since my d&d days.

What a game.
