Divinity Original Sin

TIP :

If playing as a Wizard or someone with fire spells : Place oil on the outside of a combat zone, alert the mobs then light the oil. But here's the extra tip, whenever a mob walks around the fire, if you place oil next to the fire on the enemy that oil will ignite as well! This can be done many times

Great game so far.

Permanently repeated NPC speech is driving me crazy though. Having to mute my computer a lot when I'm trying to talk to an NPC and want to read the dialogue, and I've got two NPCs nearby that are just repeating the same two lines over and over.

yeah, it's nice that they've voiced random background conversations and all, but stand too long in one place and it really starts to grate.

Patches rolling out already :)

Hello everybody,

Thank you for all your feedback. It's helped us fix a number of issues which were hard to track.

- Fixed: Crashes on saving
- Fixed: Dialogs locking up when talking to certain npcs with two players
- Fixed: Extremely big pool of blood
- Fixed: Cloud artefacts
- Fixed: Crash during unlearning active skills
- Fixed: Steam cloud saving (the Steam from Valve that is, the Steam cloud in game was already working :) )
- Fixed: German and French translation artefacts. You still need to manually activate the subtitles in the options screen. We'll make it automatic on the next update.
- Fixed: Corruption caused by video playback on Mac

For our Kickstarter backers - we've located the reason why you're not getting the DLC and are working on a solution.

Have fun!

Update V1.0.47

Today's update contains a number of hot fixes for the biggest issues you've been reporting. Your DLC problems should all be sorted out now too.

-Zandalor's Trunks will now talk
-Fixed the repeating voice problem that drove everybody bananas
-Muted banter voices while in dialog or trade
-Fixed crash with open inventory/skill tree on level swap
-Removed Intro Movie loading jitter
-Disabled saving to Steam Cloud again because its size is too small for our save games. We are going to compress the save games first and then reactivate it.
-Fixed problem with UI and save games
-Fixed Silverglen bad script crash
-Fixed problems with preview window in editor
-Fixed problems with game not starting after changing main campaign data with editor

-Muted banter voices while in dialog or trade

-Fixed the repeating voice problem that drove everybody bananas

Great, one of the most requested I believe! :)

This really is an outstanding RPG.

The care and attention to which it's been built are mindblowing, considering it's a kickstarted title.

I hadn't heard of the developer nor played any of their previous games, but it's a stunning game and I can only urge anyone thinking of buying to GO AHEAD AND DO IT! If you like RPGs, you will love this.

It has humour, detail, rich conversations, complex combat, exploration and character in abundance, crafting, great music, interesting gameplay mechanics... I could go on, but this is without doubt the best RPG title I've played in years.

I think it surpasses Baldur's Gate due it's accessibility and clever tutorial / learning curve too.

And it seems like a huge game... I am a good 6 hours in and feel like I've barely scratched the surface.

A guy at work bought this and speaks very highly about it, I was looking at it last night but noticed day 1 DLC :(

I promised myself I'd never buy a game with day 1 DLC after I was stupid enough to buy the armour & weapons pack for Knights of Amalour when I got the game.

Spent about 8 hours in this game now and I've had about 3 fights :p Other than that, been exploring a city, solving a murder, doing some bits on the side, reading all the lore books and chatting to NPCs. The game has such a great scope and I love their attention to detail.

Since they fixed the overly chatty NPCs, the only real downside I have with this game is the inventory management which is harsh, it takes forever to sort things properly. I really wish there was just a "Mark as junk" option so that when I visit and NPC to sell things, I can quickly and easily see what I didn't want. A "Sort inventory" would have been nice also.

Beyond that though, this game is amazing so far.

It's not really "day 1 DLC", it's part of the extras that were available to backers from Kickstarter. They packaged up the extras in the form of a DLC so they could easily distribute it to those backers separate from the core game and also it allowed Steam users who wanted to help back the project further and who missed out on the Kickstarter backing to get those extras.

But does it really matter? If you don't want it, just don't get it :)

I couldn't have put it better myself.

It's a feeling like I've just discovered the enjoyment of computer gaming for the first time - that was a long long time ago.
My faith is restored.

That's fair enough I suppose.

I doesn't matter really. I was just saying I'd heard it was really good, but what I thought was day 1 DLC put me off. :)

Oridnarily I feel the same way about Day 1 DLC, but as flibby said, that DLC was meant to be a reward for kickstarter backers, and available to others at a price. So I wouldn't be too harsh on Larian studio for that :)

So far I have played about 7 hours I think, just been chatting to NPCs mostly, and done a couple of sidequests that haven't involved fighting.

I don't even know yet if the skills I have chosen are good or not :p

I've been having two annoying issues. The first one is the loading time when saving, it's odd that after the game is saved it actually reloads the map. It wouldn't bother me so much if it weren't related to the second issue.. When loading the map, the game sometimes crashes.

Has anyone had these problems?

Have they fixed the co-op issues?, this game really shines playing two player - but in the last game I tried it kept dropping one of the players into a kind of spectator mode during combat/switching who controlled who.

Looking forward to plugging a few hours into it this weekend mind - between this & the Star Citizen dog-fighter module I've got something to keep me out of trouble for a while.

Went for this last night but like an idiot I've installed it to my laptop (i7 2630QM, GT555M GPU, 4GB DDR3 RAM and a 480GB Crucial M500 SSD) as opposed to my desktop (specs in sig).

Had a very brief go this morning but it seemed quite "jerky" so I'm wondering if it's my laptop specs that are the problem or whether it's not a smooth as silk on any rig? (I've seen mention of the camera being "clunky" on this thread so I'm not sure if this is what people are talking about!?!?)

Anyone else know whether it should run OK on my laptop specs???

Well, I didn't notice any issues on my desktop (only slightly higher spec than the one in your sig) so I'm guessing it may be performance related.

It may just be that the game isn't fantastically optimised yet for lower end GPU's, I'd try it on your desktop to make sure.

My laptop is very similar spec to yours (i7-somethingQM, GT555M, 6GB RAM), and it runs well.

I did however have to turn down the game detected default graphic settings, the game seemed to overestimate the capability of the GT555M.

I had to turn the graphics down from "ultra" to "high" (at 1600 x 900 resolution), as the laptop was getting very hot on my desk. I didn't measure it, but it did feel like I was getting low-ish (about 18-19 maybe) FPS with GFX set to "Ultra". Was obviously much better on "high", around 25-30 FPS I would say.

I think the camera clunkiness is more to do with its useability, and is a separate issue from frame rate, if that is what you are referring to.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the replies guys!

I seem to remember it did auto-detect to "Ultra" (albeit my res is 1920 x 1080) which I was a little surprised by so I'll tone it down a touch to see if it helps but I think I'll also get it on the desktop too for a proper comparison!
