Do NOT buy from G2Play!

Its MW2 specifically they are targetting - massive amount of consoles banned as well amongst other things.

I've lost any faith I had in Activision :( a lot of it is motivated by greed - that said a good number of the keys are not legit ones however... but not all.
 
Some people are rather dense, KEYGENS CANNOT GENERATE REAL KEYS. They generate keys that are in an acceptable format for an installer to accept but this isn't the same as a real key that you can use online, they maintain a database of real keys and the possibility of generating one of these is about zero.
 
Yes the chance of generating a hash that matches the installer is far greater than the chance of generating a key that matches the auth'd list... however the chance of generating a working key is a lot higher than people seem to think... generating reliable enough keys to sell on without being able to test (due to the keys being linked to an account) is another matter... but thats not the only source of dodgy keys... those keys have to be printed onto the material that comes with the game in the first place... where do you think a lot of 0 day warez comes from? theres a lot of "underworld" activity in this regard - with a lot of incentives for people providing stolen, generated, hijacked, keys, etc...

At the end of the day if you can't afford to take teh chance and lose the money - save up the extra and buy legit, otherwise quit whining - you took a gamble and sometimes you lose.

they come from a publisher or courier stealing a copy of the game early and supplying it to a group who then breaks the copy protection method used on the disc before uploading it to th groups FTP.

tthey dont come from someone hacking a database and stealing loads of keygens.

anyone who has ever bought a CD key from one of these sites will know they always send you a photo of the cdkey from the back of the manual/box.

they getting the keys from physical copies of the game that wont be stolen.


if a truck full of computer games was stolen you would hear about it.

face the facts they dont like it that someone in asia is buying games for the peanuts they cost over in that region and then selling photos of the cdkeys to westerners which means activision doesnt get as much profit because they sell the game for far less in specific countries where people cant afford to pay 50$ for a game
 
Im 99% certain these keys are Russian.

Especially as one of the sites I use explicitly says they are Russian and most customers are saying the keys got banned.

Another reason to HATE Infinity Ward/Activision.

They are the ones at the bottom of this evil, not someone selling cheap games to westerners who are now going to be out of pocket.

That's exactly what I was talking about, I specifically described the fallen earth situation several times. When you've repeated yourself over and over to try to get a point through, it tends to get the ol' back up a bit when someone comes back with a glib response like that one.

Has anyone actually tried googling 'Fallen Earth keygen'?

All beside the point though - regardless of their dodginess, or steam / EA's greed, you're taking your chances buying anything from them.
 
Surely the greed is of Activision/Infinity Ward? They're the guys that control the prices and region availability, I dont see why they wouldn't control this too.

Console games cost nearer £40-50 (yes, some of that money goes directly to Microsoft/Sony, but it's still a huge cost for the consumer)

They have lower prices in other regions because people in those regions make less money, or piracy is so rife, that they have to lower the costs in order to hopefully generate some sales.

I agree the whole $/€/£ situation does need to be sorted out, but that's another issue.

LOL they can't present a valid reason other than stating "Buy from an official store" AKA Pay the highest price possible or were gonna take it off you.

Wonder when they state 1million copies live on steam!! How many of those 1 million aren't actually playable because of low flying toys :p

No, you used your liberty to source a license from a cheaper country rather than being ripped off, and now steam/acti are banning you because of it...

No, we don't want to be treated unfair by steam because we bought a game that was originally a cheaper copy from abroad resold online...

for all they know you could have had a holiday to russia, probably wouldnt cost much more than mw2 cost lol.

i saw an easyjet return ticket to paris for 60quid (taxes and fees included) yesterday.

so you could probably travel to russia , buy a copy of mw2 and not pay that much more than you would for a taxi into town to buy the game :rolleyes:

and they wonder why people dont want to pay over the odds for a copy from the uk

Or AKA "don't buy from stores who are breaking the terms of sales agreement between them and the publisher by taking a product destined for one region and selling it in another for a profit".

Presumably all the keys sold by G2Play are from a particular batch, thus ar easily tracked back to their source. The keys in boxes in Vladmir's Games Emporium are not of that batch and thus not traced back to G2Play.

If G2Play are just buying up copies from elsewhere and selling them on though, the keys would be a randomly indistinguishable selection of keys sent to that country, so unless they're just banning everyone with a foreign key but with a different message to usual, they've probably got some other way of identifying them.
 
Steam (read Valve) are slowly becoming not so freindly towards the PC gamer.

I hope that this is Activisions doing and not Valves though.

Actually, people have been doing this for years with no issues so I blame Activision on this one.

Countrywise maybe, I wouldn't have expected them to know exactly which keys which went to a specific retailer and for them to then identify G2Play are buying all their keys from that one retailer, which I why I said unless they are just banning all foreign keys, they probably have another way of identifying exactly which keys are ending up at G2Play. If G2Play are actually just going around buying random loads of games from local retailers/wholesalers wherever local is, then Valve couldn't possibly identify them back to G2Play specifically, all they'd know is people are using foreign keys.

The easier solution would be that they are just banning all foreign keys under the assumption they've come from key sites but then that goes back to my earlier point of why the message saying 'unauthorised seller' rather than 'wrong region' as I believe they have done in the past.
