Do we have a Black Friday 2018 Deals thread

The app looks like it should work, but one of the reviews says it's doesn't work. I'll soon find out I suppose
I noticed in the App you can choose the normal amazon Fire stick but there no amazon 4K fire stick to choose
And I no have a 4k fire stick to test mine with..

But am guessing it should work as don't it use the same remote control as the FireTV

So not everywhere unlike Visa or Mastercard then.

You never said everywhere…let me remind you what you said.

I think if you get an AMEX card from AMEX you pay fees and stuff. If you get one from Lloyds or another bank you don't pay fees but you usually get a second card (mastercard or visa) along with it.

AMEX is carp any as most places don't take them because of the higher merchant fees.

And I said, in my experience, most places DO take them.

So you are changing the goal post to everywhere now?

Sainsbury's takes them, M&S takes them, I was in Lisbon and I used it too. In my experience, as a user of Amex, not someone who guess…more places take them than not.

As a person who has ran several businesses (pubs, restaurants and shops) I can tell you that none of them take Amex because the fees are stupidly high. Also every person that has an Amex card will have at least 2 other cards they can use which aren't Amex so it makes zero sense to take Amex and pay the fees.

Its funny how they ask do you take Amex because they know most places don't which are independent.

I might get one since there is one with zero fees just for free Costco membership.

Yes I have other cards but given the choice when I am buying something, I prefer to pay with Amex if I can because of the rewards. Like I said, MOST places accept them, I never said all, I said most. In those instances that I can't, I pay with VISA or Mastercard.

Retailers having to pay higher fees are not my concerned…if they choose to accept it in the first place then they accept the fees that goes with it, ergo not my problem. My concern is that of a customer, not of a retailer, the reward from the card is also better than my Barclaycard and also in my experience, their customer service is also better than others when you have a problem and need to call.

But not everywhere take it.

Do you need me to quote your own post again? Mr. Moving the Goal Posts. :D

In my experience most places will take Amex chip and pin but many places (including chain shops) do not like Amex contactless.

ASDA is one such example where contactless seemingly doesn’t work but chip and pin is fine.

This. We refuse to accept Amex at my work as unlike the reasonable fees on Mastercard or Via, Amex can be something ridiculous like 4%. Which retailers want to give away 4% of their sales?

Think i'm done with purchases for now, got the stuff I meant to get.

Total haul:

PS4 Pro with a few games (RDR2, Spiderman, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroit Become Human) £330
Samsung 970 EVO 500GB M2 SSD £90
Bosch 70 piece drill bit set £16
Bosch ALS 2500 leaf blower/vacuum £40
Nilfisk C110 Pressure Washer £60
Ring Doorbell 2 £115
Shark IF200UK Handheld Vacuum £190

Total £841

Edit -

Linus Tech Tips has those stupid in-video adverts, cringe whenever I hear them.

Amex is accepted by extension anywhere that accepts paypal, which is a lot of places online. I have linked my Amex to paypal and use it wherever I can for the cashback/rewards.

going to be a lot of butt hurt people on here
Main issue with that particular video, and I do love watching his stuff is that the Hue competitor he has chosen is frankly crap Chinese stuff with rubbish app support - no doubt you will need a Xiaomi app download which will want to run ALL the 'analytics'.

These bulbs and their core usage relies on good app support and as much as I agree that Hues are overly expensive - they are stupidly reliable and the app support absolutely solid. Hell you can use one of many better third party Hue apps out there.

I've got mates shifting between those Lifx and IKEA Triffid kit and they've had nothing but issues. I've been using hues since 2015 (iirc) and have yet to have any of my B22 coloured bulbs, Hue Go's or lightstrips die on me. Flipping hell the latter was a rip off back when I bought it though I admit!

Linus's video pretty much sucks really because the title in itself is click baity and kinda smells of sponsorship, for which the Chinese companies are quite good at doing.

had zero issues with their cctvs cameras or their dashcams or their mobile phones.

the chinese are the best programmers in the world and xiaomi are amazing, their robot hoover is one of the best at 1/5th of the price of it's competitors.
