Do we have a Black Friday 2018 Deals thread

Have i missed something, isn't hue just a multicoloured lightbulb, in which case whats the point? (This coming from somebody who loves gadgets).
Not quite *just* a multicoloured light bulb.
myself I can't justify the cost (yet)
and I also dont like that you can't use them (fully) with normal light switches

It is an "eco system" that you can add multiple lights to. controllable via smartphone app or voice assistant (whichever flavour you prefer)
I believe you can also program scenes, zones and schedules

You can add wall switches but they aren't normal switches, haven't really looked in to detail at those though as I had already written the entire thing off as too expensive
consider that I have a small house with 2 rooms downstairs which contain between them 26 x GU10 bulbs and 6 x ES screw type bulbs.
Then upstairs we have 14 bulbs total of differing types.
Then a further 6 in my loft/man cave

I do want smart lighting, but think I will go down the switch route and live with a single colour. :)

I bought my coloured hue bulbs/go's years ago when they were a lot cheaper. The pricing on them is a tad silly as you know so you need to wait for the offers i.e Black Friday/Xmas for good bargains and there almost always are on sale.

All my light fittings in my house are older B22's so with regards to the room wall switch, this has to be on always in order to keep the bulb 'asleep' and ready for commands. The bulbs will also activate via the light switch if you want too so they're fully operable whatever way you wish. My room for example in addition to the old light switch behind the door also has a better placed cheap Hue Dimmer switch (which doubles up as a remote) that is programmed with different shades of light (one press = warm brightness, double press=bright white etc). Most of the time I just issue out a 'ok google, lights on' as I enter since I have a G.Home. The Hue Dimmer switches are superb and cheap, though there is a round variant (has 3 buttons) which is far more expensive and not worth it at all.

The lighting comes into it's own for events like Halloween, or a party for instance though it can be used for mood lighting should you want it. I couldn't care less about the mood lighting now but the wife sets room lights to a light blue or red and I do find it calming when its on. All the phones in the house have a widget on the home screen that allows simple on off and dimming usage - mainly for the parents who are older and not clued up on tech. Other rooms have lighting that comes on at a predetermined time.

If, however you have lighting around your PC and you have the Phillips Hue Sync app...you're in for one hell of a time.

Managed to pick up a decent PS4 Pro deal in the end. Was £329.99 but had a £25 off code at AO and with selling RDR2 i should only end up paying £270 for the new quieter Pro. Other then that i've had a rather dull Black Friday, nearly went for a iphone xr/xs deals on Voda for £37pm 80gb but really shouldn't add more monthly commitments as i'm trying to buy a house next year.

Am not interested in the stupid HUE light bulbs that change different colours..

I have a Philips Connected Luminaires Fair Hue 39 W Ceiling Lamp in my bedroom which is great due to you can control the light it outputs from a warm light 2200k to a bright cool light 3000k and can also dim/brighten it by my TV remote
Turn your lights on/off, dim up/dim down your light with the Philips Hue Dimmer Switch. Change from cosy Warm White light (2200K) to bright Cool White (3000K) light.
