Do working toasters actually exist?

Are you on about the age old moan about none of them actually being big enough to evenly toast an entire slice of normal bread?

Dualits used to be decent but cost an arm and a leg. I got one that looks like a dualit from curry’s about 10 years ago for a tenner. Still going strong.

Go for one that has dials and mechanism with no touch buttons or lights. Toasters and pcbs don’t mix.

Ah it’s not a reverse psychology thread I promise lol!

My toaster is rubbish (half just died too) but tbh I’ve just put up with it. Then I thought hmm I’ve never actually seen a slice of bread turn in to a quality slice of toast unless I was eating in an establishment.

I did some googling and most reviews seem to be BS. I.E. when you search the No1 toaster the review is pants..

I'd happily pay 25% more for a toaster that, in a side by side 2 slice configuration, you can confidently buy most bread and it simply fits.

I can live with flipping halfway through, just don't make me have to cut down or force a slice of bread in to make it fit.

what do you prefer that made it better? big places might have conveyor toasters or other machines :

I see some toasters are 'faster' than others...but it's not out the question that someone might prefer the taste of a slower toaster, do you get toasters that you can alter the heat?

Looking for a toaster that actually works but I’m not sure one exists without buying something with industrial standards?!
What do you think a toaster should actually do?
I have never had a problem with any toaster, other than the very cheapest tat that is too small to fit a proper slice.
