Doctor Who

I wished that all those whining bitches would write a script of their own, send it to BBC and see if they can do better. ;)

That argument is such garbage. I couldn't write a book, but I've read enough to spot a bad one. I couldn't direct a film, but I've seen enough to spot a bad one. I can't play football, but I know a bad team I see one. And no, I couldn't write an episode of Dr Who, but I know a bad episode I see one.

I was literally cringing at the seemingly unending singing. It was so awkward. In wouldn't have mattered so much if what they were singing was at all interesting, but it wasn't, it was just repetitive rubbish. Hideous. I wanted to leave the room. The doctor's closing speech was awful as well. And the whole thing just looked stupid, from the myriad absurd alien costumes to the stupid flying "moped" to the angry face sun.

It was a terrible episode.

Which is odd since Moffat's scripts were some of the best when the show came back in 2005 :)

His episodes are still very good, either he's not a good head writer or the BBC is having a hand in what happens.

I wish it would just give up the 'family show' line. While it stays as that we'll always have these **** episodes that only kids could enjoy.

Matt smith is my favourite of the new who's, however his scripts are killing him. I know its a kids show at heart however the day doesn't need to be saved by feelings and love EVERY time. There's a recurring theme of a good episode idea ruined without thinking of how to end it, ala lost.

It would be nice to see some variation

I think you touched on a key factor here. Dr Who has a pedigree of being a family tea-time show and has always been soft/touchy-feeling stories interspersed with darker and more dramatic arcs spread over a few weeks. It's always been that way and most programmes do the same thing.

Currently it's the first few episodes after a break and they've just introduced a new companion so it's pretty natural that they're gonna start off with some relaxed, single episode storylines before they start upping the ante.

There were bits I found cringey too (the "Something awesome!" bit springs to mind), but it's probably worth bearing in mind that both you and I are a little older than Dr Who's target audience, so it's to be expected.

Love the new assistant.

Unfortunately the current Dr Who seems to be going the same way it went in my childhood; Tom Baker was great and added a depth and darkness to it. But gradually though Peter Davidson, Colin Baker and then Silvester McCoy the show became more and more comical and lighthearted. I lost interest after Tom Baker and Davidson.

In the modern series Christopher Ecclestone revived it with a darkness and seriousness that was sorely needed. In my opinion he is responsible, or at least him and the writers of that period, for saving the series that really was in doubt before he took part. Then David Tennant picked up from where Ecclestone left off and was a truly fantastic Doctor. But it seems to be once again descending into comedy, mirth, poor special effects and a young market.

I'm not enough of a fan or regular watcher to comment on whether the writers or the actors are the cause but it is a shame and I doubt I'll be watching for too much longer if it continues with subsequent incarnations.

Well put...

I do like Matt Smith as the doctor. Unfortunately the quality of the storylines does seem to be going downhill (very much along the arc you described).

Possibly, hard to tell with Doctor Who whether it's intended or just a mistake.

Surely her not being able to get in is just because he hasn't given her a key yet.

I think it's more to do with what the doctor said at the Start of the episode.

"But She can't be, But she is... She's not possible!"

Remember how the TARDIS reacted toward the other impossibility? The Fact of Captain Jack!

Related to Clara not being able to go not the tardis, and the "I don't think it likes me" comment?

The Doctor didn't pick up on it though, if it had been intentional I'm sure he would have noticed that the TARDIS wasn't auto-translating.

Edit: Also, well done Doctor for killing an entire solar system.

Switched off after just 20mins or so. Sick of seeing the doctor dance/prance about and the singing garbage was just killing me. Given that I've been rewatching Season 1 & 2, these episodes are dire compared to them.

Most likely true.

Though I do quite like the idea that she's just so dense she couldn't figure out the door was locked and looked for a different answer.
