Doctor Who

Can't say I was overly impressed by the anniversary special either, it just seemed to need something more being that it was such a special event episode... more of the 'war' would have likely done it.

Having said that it did make me want a series with John Hurt (plus he has one of those voices, I kept picturing the dragon from Merlin lol) as the doctor, I reckon a series purely about the 'war doctor' would be pretty good... if it got rid of the childishness.

Stacey? From Gavin and Stacey? Where did the bazongas come from?! (she's beefed up a bit :()

Rubber sucker monsters meh :(

Time War Dr? Was hoping to see more of the fight.

But overall, very, very good.

One question, the cinema runtime was 1hr 20mins at my local - the tv show was 1hr 15mins - have we missed anything?!

ETA: Oops. just read Joanna Page - baby weight! Oh well.

I think it's hard to beat the one you grew up watching, first tone of that voice and I was instant recognition, edge of seat. He filled that role so well that you would believe he was the dr, even though they didn't have the effects they have now back then.

Yeah. To me, the older looking doctors, (Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee and Baker), after which I quit Dr.Who, were more convincing. I felt the way they looked, eccentric and middle aged, with older voices too, made me believe they had acquired wisdom, knowledge, secrets and experience over the years through timetravel, as opposed to the current doctors who look so young. It's all brilliantly done today, and has obviously moved with the times, but it doesn't seem to be particularly unique anymore. Not to mention, at the time Dr.Who was conceived, blue telephone boxes were relevant.

Wife and I enjoyed it, I use to watch it when I was little and to be honest haven't watched it since it rebooted with Mr Ecclestone many years ago.

Felt that Tennant and Hurt acted the current doctor off the screen, I can't really explain it but they had presence, Smith just seemed dull.

Enjoyed it very much, loved seeing it at the cinima surrounded by like minded people. There was a round of applause when we heard Tom Bakers voice, such a moment with a special nod to a great doctor.

They have just showed a couple of clips at the end of the 10:00 news about this - well it was bound to be a "and finally" story.
Anyway, they showed part of the Tom Baker scene and I'm 99% sure in the clip showed on the news he was speaking lines that were not in the episode.
A line along the lines of "If I was you...oh, or if you were me" - something like that, but I do not remember such a line actually appearing in the episode.

That line was there :)

I'm confused though in the End of Time part 2 the time Lords were all ready in a time bubble? Also since this was showing the final days of the time war when the Time Lord's had all ready become a threat to the universe themselves, haven't the Doctors actions just potentially unleashed a great threat upon everyone?
