Doctor Who

I love Moffat, and I sit no where near the he should be sacked camp, but I do fear he has not dealt well with fame acclaim. As show runner, he is a personality driven yes man - no idea is too daft and nobody will tell him otherwise.

He's delivering exactly what the BBC want, a rating winning show that appeals to a large audience. Somehow people forget this and keep claiming poor writing. It's not poor writing, you're just not the target audience. This episode was written by Mark Gatiss, critically acclaimed writer behind some of the best Sherlock episodes, hardly a bad writer.

Pathetic show. Wasn't going to watch it. But watched it with others.
He's a good actor, but that character is rubbish.
Time to give up, and not hold out hope.

Seems like I'm gonna be in the minority, and I was all prepared to hate this episode as I hate ones "in the past" but I rather enjoyed it.

STUPID gold arrow ending, but the rest of the show was enjoyable with likable characters and interactions and not too many boring lulls.

Also, giving Robin the finger FTW !! :D

I'm all prepared to hate next week's now though.
Creepy nursery rhymes and kids have been rather overdone I feel.
Still... let's see....

Rumours mill is churning again Jenna Coleman may be quitting the show, what does everyone think?

I think it may be good as it would allow Capaldi to come into his own and have a proper fresh start.
I guess it will also be a little sad as she's the last link to the previous doctor and she was kinda annoying this season but she encouraged me and my hand to have a special relationship with each other that I'll never forget :D

Personally, I don't care either way to be honest. Changing the Doctor's companion isn't going to magically improve the show. If they can suddenly start writing good episodes because a new companion is brought in, there is no reason at all why they cannot write good episodes now with Clara as the Doctor's companion.

The writing is the problem, doesn't matter who is playing what.

these episodes confirm (to me at least) that Matt Smith was a great doctor, he just had awful scripts to deal with. I feel that the new doctor Capaldi has got something about him, but is going to be held back.

As much as I loved Matt Smith, he was never going to be a dark doctor, why appoint Capaldi if you aren't going to go down a more sinister route with the show?

This weeks was awful, although to be fair I hate any "historic" episode of Dr Who, its not Sci Fi for me...

I'm gonna hope some of the episodes improve, the writing is the same as when Matt Smith was the doctor and some of those were my most favourite episodes although I think Matt Smith and Karen Gillan were a large part in making those memorable.
Gotta say I'm gonna miss River Song as well as Rory.

Hopefully this picks up though!

Funny how this weeks writer referenced the abundant use of his sonic screwdriver instead of intellect... hold on a second that was Mark Gatiss!!

I remember reading in here that last weeks writer would be of note but didn't realise it was Moffat's co-writer on Sherlock.

Has anyone read how sharing episodes between writers works on Doctor Who? Will Moffat review the episode as lead writer or do guest writers have free reign?

how the hell did Clara go back to galifrey when it's time locked? The doctor had removed the ability to travel back to his own timelines from an older series, so tonight's episode makes absolutely no sense.
