Doctor Who

The 2005 series was amazing. Shaky first episode and some cheesy monsters, of course, but it's Doctor Who. What do you expect? Eccleston was a great Doctor, it's just a shame the circumstances surrounding the administration at that time led to him leaving before he could really develop.

You do not get what I meant!

This newer Doctor Who called Doctor Who 2005 when it was brought back to TV, I like every season and Doctor till this new one.

What led him to leave?

Also probably the reason he wasn't in the 50th (i heard rumours that the plan was initially to have him instead of John Hurt), even though almost no one from those days was still around. Guess he just doesn't want to be associated with it any more.

Oh right, that makes more sense. Eh, i never really liked Clara either. Seems like they never know what they're doing with her. But Capaldi has been excellent so far i think.

No way! I'd completely missed this news altogether. Would love to have more information than "polotics" and it's a bit of a slap in the face of fans to say he had issues with the culture that's grown around the show.

Granted, you only have to look at this thread to see how the smallest historical slip will disturb old-who fans from their slumber as they arise with absolute rage for the terrible new doctor's poorly researched error.

I've got no Idea what you're all moaning about because that was an excellent episode.

Really love the fact that we're seeing a new alien species in each episode and often on different planets. The Smith era was so devoid of opening the box in that respect and here we're being treated to one every episode. Such a brilliant idea having the moon give birth to the biggest animal in the universe and leaving Earth with such an awful decision.

What a complete change from the norm having our conventional hero taking a morbid twist by abandoning planet earth in a crucial moment. Special effects were absolutely spot throughout along with Clara's lovely face... she doesn't even need the pretty dresses.

I figured out a key ingredient;
FACT: Orange Jumpsuits = Guaranteed Awesome Episode

However, that tantrum at the end... aaaahhh ****in women! Typical though isn't it, Pink mentioned "if he pushes you too far you tell me" and in typical woman fashion Capaldi gets it in the neck for reasons unbeknown to any other living object other than her.

Dump Pink and Clara, Capaldi is a strong enough actor to go it alone for a series, would be refreshing to see him just being the doctor and not fannying about helping out his sidekicks.
Know what? I agree with this!

He's a brilliant Doctor and constantly having to look out for / explain to / save the sidekicks etc., does hold it back, it would be interesting to see what happens if he's let loose on the universe on his own.

Are the writers reading this very thread or something?!

:D Let's hope so, we really put it to rights.

I was a bit cross with this last episode, not for the normal reasons that have already been stated but some really daft stuff that shouldn't have been in.

The shuttle was on fire...on the Moon...with no air...and the smoke was drifting as well.:rolleyes::o

I can accept bigger on the inside, I'll even take the Moon is an egg and produces a new Moon but they didn't say anything about air on the Moon and that's really really basic science!

Increased gravity on the moon, maybe it managed to drag some of the earth's atmosphere across the void...

;)

Pppfffffff :p

You have just reminded me of the other thing though...the gravity of the Moon was increasing leading to high tides all over the world AT ONCE...so...not as it is now then where there is a bulge of water on the side facing the Moon...nope...everywhere AT ONCE.

LOL

Hey on that topic, Dr Who has many ethnics nearly every Ep due to BBC rules and has had homosexual couples so where is the cripple in the wheelchair?

This whole series is becoming a caricature tbh. Even Clara is becoming annoying. Poor writing and poor stories. This weeks was a case in point.

anyway the episode went on for too long should have ended when Clara left the tardis.

Agreed, Clara was a really interesting enigma, now she has just become a one dimesional character. And her rant at the end of the episode just killed the episode for me; "you made your point 10 mins ago love. Jog on and put the kettle on".

Pleasantly surprised by that one.
Looked like a boring monster run-around based on last week's preview, but yeah.... not bad... not bad at all !! :)

Another cracking episode for me, don't like the whole Clara flip flop of I'm leaving, "oh wait - no I'm not". Seemed to soon after last weeks big argument.

Best run of Who in ages, how did the Robin Hood one sneak into this series?
