Doctor Who

Vote still out - I hope the character works without having to be a female rendition of a male character. It will make it more interesting.

Major diversity quota achieved. Dr. Who Bollywood edition?

Was fine. Like the new darker music, I despise the BBC orchestral stuff, it was way too loud and "fake jaunty."

As usual, it will be down to the storyline and writing. I hope they don't just rehash major sci-fi things/themes over and over.

Well it was better than I expected. Good production values (and music oddly). Felt a little bit like Dunkirk at times in terms of the pounding and constant score. Very different feel really. I really liked Jodie Whittaker must say. Particularly her accent. No probs there at all. I'm sold.

On the downside, the supporting cast were poor imo. Too many of them for a start. Felt like a posse following the Doctor around with not a lot to do. Seemed like a poor decision to me. Almost a quota ticking exercise if I was being cynical. Next episode looks like it might be more of the same to me. Looking forward to when it's more established and starts exploring self contained plots etc.

Very much a 7/10 from me I think.

I've just watched the end credits for the first time. They've almost unscrewed the mess it had become in previous series. The music was much better than it's been for a while as well, except the overly loud drumming. Is that a snare drum?

I thought Jodie was fantastic as The Doctor and I think she is going to be great going forward.

The new Composor has so far been an improvement to Mr Murray Gold who often used music that was far too loud.

This seems more stripped back and darker, along with the Theme sounding a lot more like its original 60s/70s incarnations.

Can't wait to see it with the full opening credits on Sunday.

It wasn't to bad but not great either, but by god are they smashing the diversity quota and its so obvious.

Didn't mind Jodie at all, but completely agree with the above comment; even the upcoming guests is ticking the diversity box. Nothing to do with the right person for the role on initial glance, but i'll give it a chance.

At the minute i am still in, but i am hoping for off world stuff, if we are sticking to Sheffield then i'm out.

No they have promised an equal amount of Earth vs Spcae and also spilt in past, present and future it's not all set in Sheffield.

Thought it was alright, still a little OTT acting-wise, but that’s the requirement of the character rather than ooor acting I guess.
I do find Jodie Whitaker to be quite easy on the eye, so that helps :)

Yep, pretty much my impression. :/

And the script was pretty wooden too compared to earlier series. (A saying "What is happening?" B explaining somewhat tediously what actually is happening :/)

I dont mind the lady Doctor though. But I think they missed a trick.

If it had been me writing it, I would have (Think about the target audience after all) had her do a quick booby grope on herself early in the episode and saying something along the lines of "I don't remember those"

:D

Decided to give it another watch in preparation of Ep2, and actually I think I enjoyed it a bit more than the first go.

Still think Jodie needs to up her game a lot, as she currently has no gravitas or screen presence (in my opinion), but I think I can see a bit more potential now than I did on my first go.
Ep2 here we go..... soon..... :)

I thought it was OK, it was nowhere near as disappointing as some of the Capaldi episodes. ( Even if it was doing the inclusion/diversity card to death) It has become the way of things that anything new or re-imagined becomes "hyped" in an effort to draw the public in. Seldom do they live up to expectations. Often if you watch them in isolation, you enjoy them more as you've not been drip fed tidbits.

I wish people would stop focussing on this diversity/inclusionn BS..

Just ignore people race, colour and whatever and get back to enjoying TV shows.

They are all just actors in a show after all.

Crap actors lol
What have they done to Doctor Who?
I haven't watched the show in years and years but had a look at the first episode of the new season.
What a load of rubbish.
The episode felt rushed. The story seemed to jump from one scene to the next. The actors and script felt wooden and forced.
