Doctor Who

I’m watching episode 3 the Rosa Park one. It’s not very engaging. The first two were ok. A different style, particularly the direction. But so far so dull. Does it get it any better?

No it's terrible. This latest episode was by far the worst episode I have seen so far.

I tune in to watch Daleks, Cybermen and the fate of the world resting in the hands of the Dr. But so far I feel like I've just watched a season written by a history teacher and a SJW.

GF said we should catch up on them so we watched the Donald Trump Spider one, Naff.
Started to watch one with a Sonic Mine and a little creature that seemed pretty over the top. But I got nice Sci-fi Vibes until i fell asleep after 15 mins... no lies.

I've been enjoying them all. Last week's was fun.

However there are some that just keep banging on about sjw crap and it being too diverse and political I think they just have too much time on their hands. Just tune in and enjoy.

Exactly. I want ridiculous plots to take over the world. Large scale stories with good bad guys. Not silly little history lessons with Doctor who characters shoehorned in. Even in the past series when they have been episodes with limited danger or scope they still manage to make them interesting and focus on the enemy or the aliens. I reckon 80% of the episodes this series have been devoted to personal stories that I give not a single **** about.

I thought that was the best one of the series so far.

It wasn't terrible but it was like the remade Back To The Future with all the fun removed and then chose an educational topic to put a grey cherry on the bland trifle. I know who Rosa Parks is and her role but the US civil rights movement doesn't resonate for me so strongly that I can find enjoyment in something so insipid.

After 3 episodes I can't decide if I like Jodie Whittakers Doctor yet, not as instantly charismatic as Capaldi. The writing hasn't noticeably improved only different, which is a shame because the last 2 Doctors were good but let down by the scripts.

The scripts are boring and completely forgettable and there's a total lack of any real acting, charisma and gravitas from anyone at all.
Quite how they can dumb down someone of Jodie Whittaker's talents to this and Bradley Walsh's comedic slant too in one fail swoop is beyond me.
With the actors they have it should be close to being at the Eccleston / Piper level...instead we're at Tinky-winky and La-la.

Bring back Torchwood...

Tennant 289 times over 44 episodes. Or an average of at least 6 times an episode :p

Weird...I wonder why it seems so much more blatant with this Doctor then...ah well, cant argue with facts and the facts clearly show that despite my perception that the sonic is overused this series, its actually not being used significantly more than previous Doctors.

This weeks episode seemed to be a take on the
Soul Hunters
from Babylon 5 combined with the inevitable SJW history lesson around Indian Independence. However the writing and acting remains weak - even the worst B5 episode and occasional wooden acting were 5x better. The producers and writers must have watched decent sci-fi to get their ideas, can only think they have been inhibited by BBC insistence each episode has to represent diversity or the struggle of some oppressed minority.

Will be watching some more of The Expanse Season 3 later to remind myself how sci-fi should be done

I think its because the stories are so boring and uninteresting that the hugely flamboyant way she uses the screwdriver is just that much more obvious. In past series it was kind of a a tool that faded into the background of a frantic scene whereas now its used often and for the most mundane of things. Before it might be used to open a door as they run for their lives and the doctor whips it out in haste to use it. Now the doctor would stop, step back and do a massively exaggerated gesture before unlocking the door.

It reminds me of the wands from Harry Potter now.
