ok update after call with Neil, it seems MSI are looking at improved pricing for me, i can't quote or promise yet as I haven't had the email but the prices range quoted on the phone seems "comparable to mxm upgrade"
so it seems we are almost there, they refuse to discuss a deal for the community I've tried my hardest, but if they are willing to budge, if you challenge them they should budge also.
for me i choose MSI and a Laptop over other brands and a desktop due to MSI's "world first" "msi exclusive" mxm gpu upgrade. that may be a factor as thrugh their advertising I choose an MSI product where I wouldn't have choosen MSI or a laptop i would have went with brands I usually go for and built a desktop.
I'll post updates of final offer, neil said I can post it, so you can hopefully see for yourself what is possible, IF you be nice, follow the rules and know your consumer rights and how customer service should work.
funny tho i logged the ombudsman case today and no response there yet (also sent email to the retailer that sold/advertised this product) and I get a sniff of improved pricing straight away.
I'm assuming if enough cases are logged, we will ALL get a better deal, be happy with our MSI product and continue to support MSI IF they turn this into a win for us.
a good customer service interaction can be worth a 2 million advertising campaign in my eyes, so if they deal with this right it could secure future business (asus member for example, oh hey look MSI dealt with that fair and square, they are reputable and true to their word, i might consider a MSI product for my next laptop!)
edit: it looks like you might need to call up and stick the boot in a little to get some wiggle room in the prices, i can't do this for you as they won't talk to another customer about a product u bought etc, however I beleive you can appoint a representative for yourself in this case if you are shy/unsure what to say.
