DON'T BUY MSI THEY MIS-SOLD TOP SPEC GT SERIES LAPTOPS with MXM Graphics

When we discussed this, the only option that retained those features and your chosen 1070 GPU was the 035UK.

Your trade in valuation was £1050. The 035UK upgrade cost to you would have been £1649. You wanted to pay no more than £500, making the gap £1149, which would essentially mean an £1100+ discount. Hope this clears up any confusion.

As I have mentioned I don't want a discount on a new laptop. I want what MSI failed to provide an MXM upgrade. As I can't have this I want replacement at the cost of the MXM upgrade, without loss of features.

You are already offering me the GPU upgrade for £600, with the latest CPU, more RAM, larger SSD, 120Hz screen. I only want the GPU, it's all I've ever wanted from MSI. I don't want to lose features, there is no reason why I should.

Keep your extra RAM (that I don't need/won't use), keep your larger SSD (I already have other SSD's to transfer from my existing notebook, keep your 120Hz screen (I already have this on another of my laptops). And give me back my MUX switch and RAiD options!!

It is fruitless to go over old ground at this stage, but please stop assuming that we are lying at every turn - Neil and I have both demonstrated our efforts to get you the best possible offer.

Do you know why we keep going over old ground? Because the presented solution does not fit the description.

Prove you are not lying.

Which previous MXM upgrades are the costs of this program comparable to?

Or is that a lie?

Also Nats the price difference between the GT72VR 7RE and a GT73VR with GTX 1070 is £400. How much of that cost difference is the RAiD board and MUX switch?

I know this issue is sensitive but MSI is a big player in the industry and I'm sure they can find a way to get a better price deal for us.

Offering the gt72vr 7 series instead of the 6 series is a good start. Offering a more discounted rate for the new machines.

I like the look of my laptop it performs well and I would like to have been able to just upgrade the gpu at my leisure instead of having to do it within a time limit thats convenient for the company instead of the customers who were mislead on MXM upgrade.

im kinda obsessed now about getting a bundle pack as an apology lol

To oddly give MSI some credit; I suspect this was down to stock rather than to favour some with newer tech.

Stock of GT's with skylake were already low, as they knew kabylake was coming.

I can see most upgrades being kabylake models.

Still doesn't replace my freaking MUX switch or RAiD card.

Illegitimi non carborundum.

I did ask about that in one of the many emails lol they said itl be unlikely itl be 7th gen cpu's

As for me im not too bothered about the mux switch or raid card As i dont realy play a lot of games.

For me the laptop would mostly be for video editing purposes with abit of VR games in free time :)

This is partly the reason i think MSI should be offering lower prices for the 6th gen vs the 7th gen upgrades but by the looks of it they're charging us the same prices.

wish i could take them to court for the advertising violations and sue for a 1080 sli titan lol

There is an ongoing class action case brought against MSI USA over the MXM fiasco.

All I want is an upgrade, in lieu of the actually MXM GPU, at a cost comparable with previous MXM upgrades, with no loss of features, hardly unreasonable. But MSI don't care about their customers.

Unfortunately I cannot find any offer on our database matching £1049 or the 045UK. Please forward the email to [email protected] for further assistance.

I will be emailing you (I'm assuming you are a member of MSI UK staff) soon with a detailed response and a few further queries. In the meantime this is the relevant content of the offer email I received:

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for your inquiry.
The Trade-in program in offering now in UK and the deadline of the inquiry will be on 31st Dec.
Basically we will have a discount amount based on the value of your on-hand machine then you will be able to use that discount on the new GTX 10 series GT model you choose.
The value of your laptop will be determined by the SRP at launch and the age of your notebook. You will be able to use this to trade up to selected MSI Notebooks featuring Nvidia GTX 1060 / GTX 1070 / GTX 1080.

According to the data you provided to us, your discount amount will be £1049 based on 2 evaluations as follows:
1. The original launch price of your on-hand machine GT72S 6QE-047UK is £1499
2. Your invoice date is 05/01/2016, we can accept the machine as long as it’s within 2years warranty.
PS: The extended warranty you paid, we will extend more year on your new NB.

You will be able to use discount for new GTX 10xx series GT series models. Here is the model list you can choose, but please be noted that the stocks are moving every day,
some models might be out of stocks time by time.
.............. etc [followed by the list of model options and terms & conditions of the offer]"
We will send you the official agreement to sign then start the following steps once you choose the new model and agreed statements above. [I have yet to see this, though it is by no means urgent at present]

Apologises for the typo I now notice, mine is a '-047UK' model not '-045UK' as I suggested in my earlier email. I hope this clarifies my earlier comments.

has anyone heard anything from MSI today? I sent Natalie an email early in the morning haven't heard back yet, shes usually pretty quick, i hope everything is ok.

have you guys thought about opening up a class action suit here in the uk ? just asking

has anyone shipped out there laptop to MSI yet?

Yes, got my official offer email today.

The UK has Group Litigation, which may provide a DBA (Damages Based Agreement)..... This could be worth pursuing if there is enough interest?

I think I'll drop an email over to a couple of specialist LLP's and see what they say.

This thread is a shame. I like nearly all of the features of my GT72 6QE 265UK.

That said, nearly every outlet sold them as GT72s models when they were not, credit to OCUK they updated the listing as soon as I pointed that out.

I went for an MXM capable model which tend to have deeper chasis for thermals and upgrade options. Admittedly the MXM supply chain has always been something of a joke.

All that said at this end of the market if you can't meet expectations of upgradability and break even you are doing it badly. I like the products and most of the support, please deal with this embarrassment properly as soon as possible MSI I would like to continue to buy your products in the knowledge that you know how to handle the complexities of selling at the higher end.

Have you submitted your MSI Trade-in Program Agreement?

yes before xmas, signed and scanned back.

I know there has been holidays but still, all they need to do is arrange collection of my laptop then they can look at it see its ok, I make the payment and they ship me my new laptop.

But no, it still seems HQ are being slackers.

on a side note, ombudsman case got nowhere as they are not required to have a independent complaints resolution third party in this sector. MSI have not even bothered to reply to the ombudsman FYI, can show email later on.

edit:

at this rate and their quote of "limited models in stock etc" I may not even end up with my first choice, hopefully in that event it would mean the new CPU, however thats speculation
