DON'T BUY MSI THEY MIS-SOLD TOP SPEC GT SERIES LAPTOPS with MXM Graphics

update, got the email from msi europe logistics giving the shipping info, on receiving date its written A.S.A.P
ups tracking is ups standard delivery, i know this is nitpicking but if i see the receiving date as asap i would usually expect it as ups express for next day.

but all in all its ok tomorrow i should get the new laptop delivered :)

Any update?

got the new laptop it looks really nice, but have had 2 problems with it so far. i tested a game and works fine.

1st issue the laptop will not power up unless its plugged in. this is strange i opened up the cover and checked the batter is connected. windows says battery is at 93% not charging " which is ok as it doesn't always charge above 90% for safety" so dont know.

2nd issue it won't recognize the new 960 evo ssd. again i will have to update the bios to see if this fixes this issue. but anyone have any info about this bios version? im currently did 1 update of the bios but it still doesn't seem to have changed the bios version....

Natalie not in till monday, MSI tech support closed till monday also.

i will do the next bios update and see if this helps. will update later

i updated the bios and it seems to have fixed both issues :) now i'm going to formate and get everything setup on the laptop thank you for the help and support.

i will update later tonight or tomorrow

ok anyone notice a problem with dragon center? my problem is if i use the button for maximum fan speed dragon center loses info on the fans, it says 0 rpm for cpu and gpu im seeing temps going up to 93 c on the cpu then the fan kicks in for about 1 to 2 seconds bursts at that point the fan rpms go back to showing, and go back to 0

only after reinstalling dragon center will it fix it, but every time i hit the max fan button on the laptop "physical button" it some how corrupts the dragon gaming center.

o god i hope i dont need to send this back into MSI iv been up all night installing everything into this new laptop no problems until i noticed this....

Hi Everybody,
Its my first time posting and tbh I tried reading through all the posts here but I'm very confused XD
Can someone explain to me whether there is an upgrade scheme for the GT72?

Thank you in advance

Hi @MSIfanboy

At present MSI UK Notebook are claiming the UK Pascal Trade-Upgrade Program is not running.

It was running, my personal trade-in was after the program closed so further misinformation from MSI.

The program in the USA is still active and also acknowledges the secondary promised GPU upgrade.

MSI UK has constantly lied or misinformed UK customers, whilst making legal threats and trying to influence this forum.

Contact MSI and see if they are willing to let you partake in the program.

Please let us know how you get on.

Thank you very much, @MiSJAH. I appreciate the information. I will contact MSI UK and let you know regarding any developments.
All the best

Any news on this?

Nat/Neil? Any comments? Or are you going to ignore a loyal customer and support the false advertising of MSI?

Even if the scheme is closed, you should be entitled to a refund in full due to being sold a product that didn't match the advertisement. There are laws on this for a reason so customers don't get duped into purchasing something. Combined with the reason many probably choose this laptop like myself as it offered upgrades on graphics (I moved from a PC to laptop for this very reason).

To add a "closing date" to this program without advising all of your customers is ludicrous... I saw a small link on your website and not much published on social media... - your closing date would probably not stand in court due to you not doing enough to make your customers aware.

How many people do you know that would constantly check your website for a obscure link to find if they could get an upgrade? You knew this and by adding a closing date think you could avoid losing more money on multiple upgrades/compensation etc. Which is probably why you added a date. A company like Dell, Apple or someone wouldn't put a date. Apple for example have a function where u can enter the serial number of your product and it will give you a list of any recalls/faults etc where you can click and basically send it in for the recall or repair as they know when they mess it a good company does everything in their power to put it right and keep the customers from going elsewhere.

1 customer satisfactory resolution and then review to a big problem is worth millions in advertising campaigns. When will MSI realise this? Just sort him out cut the crap.

Yes MSI perhaps have some of the best products at some pretty good prices, but sadly you get what you pay for, crap service. Dell/Alien/Gigabyte etc perhaps a little more expensive (some models not so good cooling IMO) however anything goes wrong you can be sure they value your custom and business and put any wrong right, quickly also. The same can't be said for MSI imo and my personal experience (August 2016 to Feb 2016 I finally get a broken laptop, then another 2 weeks I get the final resolution to this, so over 6 months to resolve is pathetic for any company these days).

Imo upgrade/sell MSI, purchase something else in future.

Took them till this Monday to ask for the MT103 :/ managed to get them it on the Tuesday. Went for the top model xD so I don't think they could upgrade me haha just want my laptop back its been over a month and I'm having to use other peoples computers or my phone its just been a major hassle.

43 Days after I sent my laptop and 35 days after I sent payment my laptop finally arrived. Really pleased that this is all behind me now need to really thank the msi staff who helped me it's such a shame that most of the time their hands were tied and at the mercy of corporate, anyway time to catch up on some gaming.

hopefully u can now enjoy and put this behind us. but i would argue with them for discounts, 35 days after payment was sent/and received is horrible.

Hi guys I also purchased a gt80 titan in 2015 I did not know all this situation that laptop gpu 980m could not be upgraded to 1080 I have sent an email to msi that I am interested in upgrading my laptop but they have not replied to me in a week any ADVICE GUYS would be appreciated

I had to constantly message them on thier facebook chat to keep up to date with things might be worth a shot at contacting them there? They took a very long time in sorting mine out and they look like the really want to sweep this under the rug now.

I was sort of in the same boat, I knew this was going on but due to illness (cancer) I have been in and out of hospital for the last year and feeling pretty awful, I emailed them in Feb asking if I could be part of the program but received no response, after another 2 weeks I emailed them again and got a response immediately saying sorry your too late.

Due to my circumstances, about to go back in to hospital again and I should be avoiding stresful situations, I am unable fight them on this.

The UK team will tell you the program is finished but in the USA there is no end.

I will never buy MSI again.

You can try contacting @natarie or @Loki on here who are the MSI reps.

MSI's corporate program for trade in upgrades is still active isn't it @Loki

Also, what's MSI's legal obligation about ensuring customers affected by MSI's mis-selling these notebooks are made aware of the Trade-Upgrade program? And what does the UK legislation say about appropriate time periods? Would you like to consult with MSI's legal team you threatened me with or would you like me to find it and post it here?

Ok I will try to contact on Facebook to see if they respond because It looks they are avoiding a reply for an email they got a week ago and I was never informed of this pascal upgrade program and my product was registered at MSI from day 1, by the way how do they think we are going to purchase a laptop that only RAM and hard disk could be upgraded and pay the amount of money we paid for a GT80 at the time we took the decision of which gaming laptop to purchase the key factor was the fact of being able to get a gpu upgrade for the next two Gens

Keep us informed.

MSI UK Notebook has not acknowledged the corporate claim to 2 generations of gpu upgradability.

@Loki in MSI's global marketing they advised multiple media outlets of the ability to 2 generations of upgrades. Why is MSI USA showing consideration of its customers whilst MSI UK Notebook continues to treat its customers with contempt in regards to the 2nd gpu upgrade?

Quick update.

MSI GT72-6QD with GTX 970M upgraded to GTX 1060. Stable.

New GPU from the GT72VR.

Not only stable, but stable enough to be overclocked!!

I didn't do this; this is the reasoning from the person that did.
