Sadly I can't play it until tonight. But apparently this really shines at very high resolutions on the Radeon VII due to the massive memory bandwidth. So I can't wait to try that. Finally something to give my VII and Alienware widescreen a workout :)

Running it at 1440p and getting around 90-120 FPS but yet it still feels choppy.

specs & settings? make sure shadows don't go above high, it's a real killer. there's definitely some fps fluctuations from scene to scene but it's overall solid otherwise.

Well here's a controversial opinion for you. I'm about four hours in and I prefer Doom 2016. Not that Eternal is bad, it's just... nowhere near as tight in terms of design as the first.

100% agreed. For me Doom 2016 was as perfect a game gets in its totality. Eternal takes a lot of steps back as much as it does forward, but also goes harder into trade-off scenarios. The simplicity & focus of 2016 was sublime. Eternal is just a bit overloaded overall.
