Doom Vulkan vs Open GL performance

Nice to see the difference between Async on vs off

Okay, on our first round with the RX 480 and the DOOM Vulkan patch we were informed that SMAA doesn't allow for Async Compute to function, so we set it to the suggested TSSAA, now for the comparison to include Async Compute.

I wonder if it is the same situation in Rise of the Tomb Raider DX12 - I've been playing that with SMAA on.

Thanks for the heads up, will give it a go when I get back from me hols.

Doom's still on GMG for ~£19 for those looking not to get ripped off in the mm.:p

Once stock settles I am gonna do some RX-480 and Freesync monitor bundles, be good to hit £299 for an RX 480 and 22" Freesync 1080P monitor as for most that would be a killer setup that does not destroy the wallet.

That's about the same price as a 1080p G-Sync panel alone never mind a £230 gpu too!!!

More importantly, is FreeSync Vulkan ready?

Proper gob smacked by this, I have gained like 40fps I would struggle to keep above 60fps on ultra at 1440p now I running like 70-90 fps LOL

Game also feels so much more smoother. Wish my recording software would support Vulkan hope they update very soon.

His system has some issues. Even on Rise of the Tomb Raider he had similar issues and some user pointed out.

What issues would that be?

Edit
O you mean the Frame rate on Tomb Raider? Well that was because his software he was using wasn't reading the games FPS correct under DX12. The end results was correct am lead to believe.
The Doom bench above is completely different because the frame rate you seeing is direct from the game itself.

Well i can say that maxwell is getting good gains on Vulkan even Pascal as well.

It's interesting why some people are having gains, while some people ain't, even when using same gpu's. I quess there are some settings that are bugged. Still it's good to see proper Vulkan support.

There's a vsync or frame pacing issue on nvidia. FPS shows as the same/higher than OGL but the game stutters and renders frames out of order. You need to turn vsync off to rectify the issue. No word on whether it's an id or Nvidia bug yet. You probably shouldn't compound the issue by messing around in the nvidia control panel.

On the plus side with vsync off the tearing is imperceptible for the most part.

I am seeing this on my GTX1080. It is a mixture of stutters with occasional smooth running as though the frame pacing is off.
As soon as I go back to Opengl, all is smooth again. I hope Vulcan is fixed because I do see at least 20fps increase, but it is just not worth the stutter so I have gone back to Opengl.
