Dover Ferry Queues

Do you agree that the UK choosing to leave the EU means that UK citizens are subject to greater checks at EU borders in the same way that EU citizens are subject to greater checks at those very same borders?

Or do you believe that British citizens are subject to precisely the same scrutiny at EU borders as before that “B” word?

By “B” word, I mean that event that’s still highly relevant to this discussion, but that we’ve been told we mustn't ever mention.

Because, you know… Reasons.
Tbf I never actually said it was banned…

Probably not quite related but I’ve always had my passport checked going in and out of the country. Airports have these fancy scanners where you have to look into a camera and have your passport electronically scanned.

My wife always used to ask for her passport to get stamped. After all, what's the point of all those pages...

I’m surprised that so many Brit holiday makers are using the ferries and the Chunnel to visit France.

When I visited family in the U.K. in late May, it was €100s cheaper to fly and rent a car for a week than drive.

Flying Ryan Air remains a terrible travel experience, but it’s bearable if you’re sa a packet over regular scheduled flights.

Hire car costs are currently mental across Europe. The days of the £15/day cheapest rental car are long gone. I think it's more like £60-£80/day minimum now.

Either that or please direct them to the nearest bridge, it’s a depressing subject at the best of times. It’s like your mate who won’t stop talking about his ex who left him for someone else.
Out means out/Get over it/It's done, move on.

Right?

I’m taking the mick obviously but you’ve got what you’ve asked for one way or another. This is democracy and this is the result of it.

That is reality though isn’t it.
Well no, not really. It's a historical event - the repercussions of which will be felt for decades if not centuries to come.

Historians and social commentators have debated events such as this for many years after such events, and will continue to do so for many years to come.

To simply plug your fingers in your ears and say "well it's over now" seems short sighted and shallow at best in my opinion.

I have no control over the situation before, during or after. The public was asked to vote, they voted, the outcome was determined. Everything before or after is the result of politicians, it is now up to them to determine the outcomes. If you participate in democracy then you have an equal responsibility regardless of the outcome. I don’t, therefore I can quite easily put my fingers in my ears and point out the stupidity in it all.

The port seems to be ok now, the chaos has moved to the tunnel. School holidays eh.
They are stacking all the HGV's on the M20 to make sure Dover doesn't get swamped, effectively closing it the M20. So all the tunnel traffic is being forced onto the A20 to get onto the site, which then blocks all the local roads.

If they don't invest in Kents infrastructure soon things like this will only get worse.
