Dover Ferry Queues

Yeah P&O have improved every metric of their operation by getting rid of lazy overpaid underworked Brits.

And replacing them with agency that can't operate a ship correctly.

There is a lot of lazy brits, no question about that. It's scary the amount that just want to survive on benefits when a lot can and should be working.

We were going to have a long weekend in Deal or Kingsdown area next month, but seeing as it was reported that this will continue for quite some time, I guess it would be better to avoid the area completely :(

Probably not exclusive to Britain though and probably not quite the same as how the Sun “reports” it.

Come over this way fella it’s loads better except it’s usually gridlocked by caravans and other holiday makers :D

I'd have to go on my own for lure fishing from the rocks.
She suffers from a lack of big shopping area's, which I discovered during our recent stay in North Wales

Doesn't effect either area at all. Just make sure to use the A2 instead of the M20.

Usually use the A2 or come in from Sandwich end via Canterbury if busy, but having been there a few times over the years when the hols start, I'm probably going to settle on a break to Folkstone Harbour area instead and cut through on the A260.

Oh, and before we invest millions/billions in redeveloping the road / port infrastructure, throwing out decades long processes and claiming that the country isn't working. This is traffic around Dover this morning.

If we lived down there I'd be popping over to France at every opportunity.

Just keep in mind, Folkestone is the wrong side of Dover if traffic is heavy (of course - depending on where in Kent you're starting from). Part of the problem was a load of people using the back roads to try to skip the queues on the M20/A20. I'd expect the routes through Alkham and Capel to be rammed most weekends over the summer hols.

We usually do, for eating, shopping and bunker hunting.

Yes it can be, but we have found it easier to move around at the same time of year than Dover can be + might even take the train there, but they will probably be on strike and the tracks will be too hot

Looks like it's not just us (at the airports at least). There were six-hour queues outside Cologne airport yesterday due to people trying to get through security.

Sounds like a lot of security workers were laid-off or furloughed during lockdown, they found new jobs with better pay and conditions, and are no longer prepared to go back to their old job. Plus, as you need security clearance to do this kind of thing, they can't just pull in a load of temp staff to cover it.

Jeez, don't be saying things like that, you'll be ostracised and sent Europhile pamphlets and other corrective literature to reflect upon ;)

Its certainly not just us as far as air travel is concerned
Most significant airports let staff go, mid pandemic there was no signs of things picking up and as such businesses had to if/when government support ended

Airports have tried to do like Heathrow and limit passengers.

Its a bit like wackamole with places that wouldnt have had issues now being swamped due to restrictions elsewhere.
