Tom, your Beta testing Cats aren't you ? are they aware of it ?

Yes I am and yes I took one of there OpenGL developers through the bug over MSN, so they are actively looking at it, they also have the beta so can easily reproduce it :) . Cheers.

running 7.5's here, No I never bothered with AA at 1600 x 1200 it almost seems worthless tbh.

As for your FPS, its locked at 60fps, you can unlock it by adding the following to your config file

com_unlock_timingMethod 2
com_unlock_maxFPS 90 (has to be multiples of 30)

and setting

com_unlockFPS 1

also in the config.

Anyone else think that icarus pos is amazingly annoying and hard as hell to take out?

Nope :) Well I mean it can be hard to take out, but often it just requires a bit of thinking to outsmart it. I spent half a day playing as one and while they totally kick ass there are things they just can't do - especially when you get to the cramped sewer areas.

In a cramped space, with a shotgun it's like shooting skeet. Couple this with instant death when they pop and they aren't so powerful anymore. Also their effectiveness is limited when there's real close combat going on - I'm practically forced out in a busy situation when there's lots of friendlies around as well.

Now outside, for the first objective.. hell yes, they are pretty powerful ;) But it's difficult to outright kill a player who is aware he's being chased by one. The game is about carrying out objectives, and a player in the Icarus can't carry out any . . .

Anyway, general impressions after ~ 20 hours or so of play. I love it, much more than I loved any of the bf games. But then I would, I was born and raised on the quake series so I'm perfectly at home with the play style :)

Not directed to anyone specifically in here, but in other forums and in some of the games the comments have really been winding me up. When will people realize that firstly, the original ET predates battlefield so it hasn't stolen everything about it (a good idea is a good idea, and there's been plenty of borrowing from both sides of the camp), and that ET:QW is not trying to be battlefield. Half the complaints I hear are 'these move to fast' or 'people jump too much' and the next sentence always contains the word battlefield :P Anyway, mini-rant over... 'just one more round . . .'

inside a shotgun rules, outside you need an anti-personnel turret, that rips them apart :D

I really like the way the game forced you to do your role if you want a lot of XP. For example the strogg engineer gets little points for killing the enemy, but gets loads of points for repairing and constructing the deployments.

I also found out last night that the strogg engineer can send out a repair drone which means you don't have to stand next to a deployable whilst it repairs and makes you much less likely to get shot :)

Well said AB. They are two different games and we're better off having both types of combat available. Still looking forward to the ridiculousness of TF2, but this will do for now :)
Btw, you were really getting on my nerves the other night...kept killing me. Good job!
