DPD - Rant

DPD are great in my experience. They're certainly worlds better than Hermes or Yodel. I refuse to purchase from shops that use Hermes due to the amount of hassle I've had with them.

Lot of posts here praising their delivery driver and I too could do the same but that really is irrelevant as far more people handle and mishandle packages before your local guy gets to deliver it.
I have been a courier in my time and unfortunately can tell you horror stories on the way packages are handle in the sorting warehouses.

Like others, I'd pay extra for DPD, they are great. I've had one small issue due to their system being down but that was a one-off.

Having said that, no delivery company will be perfect.

No problems with DPD here. But then again, no problems with Yodel, UPS etc and I've seen Yodel get a fair load of stick. I've ordered a lot online, just like most others here, but so far, I can honestly say I've not had an issue.

Looks like you were unlucky, even more so as from anecdotal evidence, I feel that DPD are one of the better ones. I wouldn't stop shopping at a particular place due to a delivery company who managed to **** up on a time. Or have you experienced this before with DPD? Id say, again from anecdotal evidence, that you're more likely so see problems at another particular online PC retailer who seem to use Yodel for their deliveries.

The perils of ordering online.

Sometime couriers make a mess of things, but it wouldn't put me off the retailer.

With a little bit of patience and faff, you will get your items.

never had a problem with DPD, i would prefer DPD over any of the others

hermes - if it gets delivered when i'm out i never know where it will be, found one package locked inside my gas meter box once
yodel - everything i've ever had looks like it's been drop kicked around the warehouse
royal mail - never had a problem but is slower, if DPD isn't an option i would prefer to use these

Well my first DPD experience has been pretty crap so far.

Dropped parcel off at Newcastle to be delivered to Manchester. Should have got there 2 days ago. Tracking tool is pretty much useless. Said the package was in Southampton on Monday (which is blatantly impossible), now apparently its in Newcastle again. I paid extra for this service. Utter rubbish.

When I order something and the email confirmation comes through saying that it'll be delivered by DPD, I get a little warm tingle inside.

I used to work for a courier firm long time ago, they will be moving parcels just after midnight on Monday. Does that make the package on Monday thing impossible. Depends a lot on hubs for speed. For Royal Mail I'm near to a big hub, I've posted second class on a friday 7pm and its arrived the other end of England the next morning. Rather then distance, its the number of links in a chain. Its possible DPD is good or bad in various areas, I dont know their coverage especially

DPD used to be brilliant but have gone downhill somewhat recently from my experience. Not sure if there is a reason for that or if I have just been unlucky. Perhaps they have made some changes to the way they do business, more pressure on the drivers etc.

I'd love to know if anyone else has suffered at the hands of DPD
Oh, HELL yeah - Whenever I use their Track Your Driver feature, it's always at least 4 minutes late in updating.
My driver Stephanie was nearly six minutes late one, as well.... can you believe it!!

Nah, all my drivers - Steve, Ralph, Steph... yes, I even remember their names - have been top notch, stand up folks. Bang on time, always happy, will deliver exactly where you say the safe place is and will even email you a photo of it correctly in place before they leave the premises. In fact, they've emailed me photos of what you could clearly read from the address label is clearly my parcel in their warehouse, when it took slightly longer to process, just to prove they had it, knew exactly where it was and were loading it up in just a sec.... And all that without me ever asking or hassling them. I've even had a depot manager open the gates so I could collect a parcel, when they were technically closed to the public for the day.

It might vary between local areas, but round here they exemplify the sort of customer service that previously only lived in the sort of tales a Grandpa would tell by the fireside, as the young'uns gathered round his slippered feet, or something!! :D

I wish more companies would use DPD.
If I come home to find a "We're Holding Your Stuff For Ransom" card from MyHermes, I have to go sharpen my bloody quarterstaff if I want to see my parcel!! :D

Only once had an Amazon parcel go missing, don't remember who the courier was, but would pick DPD everytime.

DPD are amazing, i love being able to see where the drivers is incase im desperate to pop out.

If you want to find out how bad delivery drivers are then order something delivered from Yodel lol

DPD are by far the best courier I've had. Steve our driver always has a quick chat and is extremely accommodating including looping back once when a delivery was missed. The app is also very good for tracking deliveries.

No complaints here.

this.

Obviously the OP has a bad driver in his area.

Love DPD. My local driver, Boris, is such a nice guy and happy to spend 30 seconds chatting when dropping something off despite every second probably counting for him.

Few years ago i ordered some new training kit from MyProtein (i struggle to find shorts that leg me squat, I've got huge legs so wanted to try theirs, turned out to be crap anyway lol)
They sent it by Hermes, i wasn't in so they decided to throw it over the gate at the side of my house into the back garden with my 3 dogs, who proceeded to rip the package to shreds and destroy everything inside.
Every time someone comes to my house the dogs come running to the gate to see who it is, loudly pack howling (they're huskies), so i know this idiot knew there were dogs there.
It's things like this that make me relieved OCUK use DPD haha.
