DPD - Rant

No read all post but thought I would chime in with what makes DPD the best for me.

Aside from never having any issues with them, they have the best app, not by a mile, they are in a different galaxy with how it compares to the rest.

Install the app, create your account and receive updates when your deliveries are going to be made. You don't need to use tracking numbers or anything. It just works. PLus you have all the usual tracking and updates you get online.

As others have said, I am willing to pay extra if I have the option of using DPD.

I'm in a similar situation.

Dropped a parcel off at a drop off point a few days ago. It just says
25 Jan 2018 13:13 DPD Pickup Shop Your parcel is at your DPD Pickup Shop
24 Jan 2018 12:32 DPD Pickup Shop Your parcel is at your DPD Pickup Shop
23 Jan 2018 11:29 DPD Pickup Shop Your parcel has been dropped off at a DPD Pickup Shop

Which indicates to me its still sitting in the place I dropped it off

Mine did get there in the end, but it took much longer than it probably should have.

Used the drop off service to send a mobo back somewhere and it was delivered the next day. I did use an actual dpd local centre not a third party shop if that makes any difference.

Some time ago, I ordered something from someone - I can't remember wh0 or what it was. I got detailed tracking information telling me where my delivery was and a text message saying that my delivery would take place within a specified hour long period - to the minute.

In due course a van pulled up, a shortish young lady hopped out and slid back the door. Knowing that these people are pressed for time I went out to collect the parcel which was so heavy that she admitted she would not have been able to lift it on her own. I helped her get the parcel into my house and happened to ask her how many drops she had that day - she said 70 - yes, that's right, SEVENTY.

I feel sorry for delivery drivers, in my experience they all seem to work damned hard doing a nightmare job.

Never missed a beat with DPD for me. Always in the time slot, drivers have always been nice and polite and the parcel is never bashed about.

Might be the case that the OP just has 1 or 2 bad eggs in his area

I just bought myself a 49" 4K Tv from amazong, delivered 10 mins ago from Hermes.
Smashed panel, fantastic.

Was the box double taped at all or was there visible damage to it? It's not easy to break an LCD like that. Have you checked the back to make sure it's the right TV not a customer doing a box swap out etc.

Yes panel is correct, tape doesn’t look tampered with at all. I’m fuming.
Had a really **** week (got told mum has 3 months to live) and bought it to give myself something to take my mind off it a little but it’s ended up causing more stress.
It’s being picked up tomorrow and I’m trying to get a mate to print a label for me

My only issue with DPD is Martin is 4 hours away yet hes just a few roads away, who does the route mapping

2 hours later hes now left the town im in where he was and is now in a different town.

Hermes just turned up to pick tv up, opened the door and the guy goes “oh hmmmmm.....didn’t know it was a large tv, I’m in the car....don’t know if I’ll have space”.

Gave him a death stare that said “yes you will take it” and eventually he did lol.

Amazon sent my replacement out late last night and I had a non automated email from a guy apologising and promising it won’t happen again

Well my recent order from OCUK has been terrible. Checked DPD app and apparently delivered today at midday but no delivery came. I rang them and after an hour they tell me its delivered to a completely different address with a different street name 10 minutes away. I drive to this address and lo-behold this house is borded up with no one living there. Tried the neighbors and they didn't get anything. Now i'm on hold again to DPD to find out where the hell my parcel went to. GRRRRR

EDIT: So apparently now DPD state their driver is telling them he doesn't know where he delivered to and have advised me to contact OCUK to raise a signature dispute. Sigh

I’ve not had a bad experience with DPD so far touch wood. The local driver is nice and friendly and often bump into him at the local curry house. Like the tracking and it’s normally pretty accurate.

Yodel are the only delivery firm that have let me down a few times. Last time they managed to loose a 2x3 foot table. I try to avoid them like the plague.

Someone is clearly lying, most likely the driver. I would suggest that the appropriate response would be to give DPD a one hour ultimatum for correct delivery before you call the police. After all, they are assisting in a crime.

Never had an issue with them, although generally speaking most couriers now (yes including Yodel) are pretty good. I may simply be lucky not to have any idiot couriers nearby though.
