DPD - Rant

funnily enough not had a problem except for the last item i got from OCUK.
Was given a delivery slot of between 1pm and 2pm, Tracked the van every hour or so through the morning mainly because i was off work and playing pugb and was bored, Any way item did not arrive. Checked tracking again and van was supposedly in the area, Kept waiting 3...4...5...6 o'clock passed decided he was not coming then got a knock on the door at 7.30pm with my parcel.

Seeing as i had waited in all afternoon and was a little peeved i said to him your a bit late today , he replied AND!....I decided to keep going....I said your a bit late I have been expecting this since 1pm have you had a problem, at this point he saw i was a bit ****** off...mainly with his attitude rather than anything else and he said oh yea sorry but the van broke down and I have had to come from Bala depot to deliver the parcels so am running a bit late.

I said oh, ok...and thought funny that seeing as i tracked your wagon all afternoon and it never stopped once even when it passed through my village.

Any way i got my parcel but I don't know what they was up but the driver seemed a bit shirty to me...Not seen him before either. Had many items of OCUK but not had a problem before.

DPD are the best in the industry by a country mile.

I was a manager there up until may last year when I moved jobs to work closer to home. They are incredible, light years ahead of everyone else.

I work for Fedex at the moment, and its like going back to the dark ages.

Had one issue with dpd. Requested Saturday delivery. No dice. Wasn't happy. But usually every courier is great around here.

I personally like hermes best. Royal mail are good too. Mainly because hermes often leave my parcel as I'm never in. And royal mail has a post office near me. Also hermes for sending always. Their parcel shops are great.

Dpd are actually the only courier I've had problems with.

"DPD are the best", Really?
Because I've sent and ordered hundreds of things over the internet in the last 10 years, never had an issue, and I've never even used DPD.

They are, by a considerable margin, the most organised and technologically advanced courier in the market.

Dig under the skin of any of the big integrators over here (FedEx, UK Mail, TNT, DHL, Tuffnells, APC, UPS, Yodel) and you will find archaic and non-standardised processes, systems and operations scattered all over the place.

atpbx is right, by comparison most of the competition are in the dark ages.

Actual/perceived service levels are sometimes a current story, but as a package there is little doubt that DPD are the most advanced.

I use to work for tuffnells and what went on was shocking. if a trailer blown out and wasn't enough room, it was a case of remove everything from the pallets and just " back stack " it all, that didn't mean neatly arrange them all, it ment just throw / launch / pile everything on top of each other, floor to roof. fragile items on the bottom and whitter tow bars on top of it... exhausts thrown on top aswell with all the hangers digging right into every box

I trust you have complained about them on Twitter and # them?

It's the only reason I have Twitter because it's the only way companies respond promptly now - phoning up doesn't seem to do anything.

I complain about everyone on there and get a response within the hour and a resolution in the day.

Well my first DPD experience has been pretty crap so far.

Dropped parcel off at Newcastle to be delivered to Manchester. Should have got there 2 days ago. Tracking tool is pretty much useless. Said the package was in Southampton on Monday (which is blatantly impossible), now apparently its in Newcastle again. I paid extra for this service. Utter rubbish.

I'm in a similar situation.

Dropped a parcel off at a drop off point a few days ago. It just says
25 Jan 2018 13:13 DPD Pickup Shop Your parcel is at your DPD Pickup Shop
24 Jan 2018 12:32 DPD Pickup Shop Your parcel is at your DPD Pickup Shop
23 Jan 2018 11:29 DPD Pickup Shop Your parcel has been dropped off at a DPD Pickup Shop

Which indicates to me its still sitting in the place I dropped it off

Bit of a late reply I know but if you're in st.martins near oswestry then that's a fair trek when you're doing deliveries too tbh. Also I used to live there!

If be a bit shirty too of I was still dropping off at 7.30 at night and had that drive to get home, they have to follow the set delivery runs hence why he probably drove past you

Placed an order the other day for a hand held flashlight from Amazon. It was due to arrive today but I had to leave the hose for a short while. When I returned I checked online to review my order status. It said, package delivered and left in your safe space. I had no idea what this safe space was as the DPD guy left no card or anything. Ended up phoning Amazon to find out where this "safe space" was. They told me it was behind my wheelie bin. Sure enough it was there. Would have been helpful though if the mindless delivery guy had posted a card telling me where he had left my parcel. Spent several hours stressing over this and trust me, If I could, I would gladly hand over a fist sandwich to that thoughtless driver.

In other news, a small penguin named Robert has become the fist of his kind to emigrate to Australia.

Yea its the same St Martins :)

I love DPD.

There was one time where I wasn't going to be in the house and advised to leave it somewhere safe for when I get back from work.

He put the parcel in the green storage container behind my house and then sent me a photo by text to show me exactly where he left it.

Personally I've never had an issue with their service.

(Amazon delivery drivers on the other hand).

I think the only problems I've had with DPD have been delivering to a wrong address (she house number, neighbouring road with similar name) and being carded with soothing that I swear wasn't written in English. I had to call DPD who had to contact the driver to find out where the hell out had been left.
