Dr Michael Mosley goes missing during hike on Greek island

Some of the front pages have circled the spot where his body was found. Which looks like the bottom of a slope.

I suspect that he slipped on the rough and loose rock terrain and fell down. If on the point of slipping and where he was found, he broke his skull, that’s bad.

Probably the PM will find grazes, broken bones, bruises and develop some idea how he died.

wow thread is full of columbos, or more exactly inspector cluesos.

The guy went out walking, and ended up dead, no one knows what happened inbetween, PM might show up something like a blow from falling, or an acute onset illness, but other than that we won't ever know.

Liked his way of presenting information, he was very accessible and had a very relaxed, chummy presentation manner, and had a trustworthy persona that he didn't use to take advantage of people, and was willing to convey his own experiences at trying stuff. So a likeable guy, and clearly I wasn't alone in liking him, and surprised at how much I felt invested in the news of his disappearance.

Why did no one spot him on the CCTV?

New CCTV seen by The Sun showed Dr Mosley leaving Pedi and walking down the mountainous route towards Agia Marina.

He is seen descending towards a wall before disappearing from view. It is unclear if he sat down or stumbled.

Dr Mosley was seen on the camera at 3.44pm — two hours and 14 minutes after he left St Nikolas Beach.

It would also have been around an hour and 45 minutes since walking through Pedi.

Question marks hang over why CCTV of the area was not checked sooner after search crews released Dr Mosley had walked that way.

Staff at the bar have admitted it is a "mystery" how they missed Dr Mosley.

One said: "How we missed him is a mystery.

"He was in distress suffering from exhaustion but nobody saw him.

"This is heartbreaking.

I am very shocked and very upset to read the article and saw shocked pictures, staff at Agia Marina bar reviewed CCTV found footage of Michael walked down the rocky path behind the fence and he collapsed from exhaustion at 3.44pm on Wednesday. Why tourists sat at the bar during 3.44pm who saw Michael collapsed did not raised the alarm and alerted bar staff to walked around to checked on Michael and take him to shelter or shade and give him water?

Also I really dont understand why his wife and his friends did not walked to Agia Marina beach later on Wednesday looked for Michael??? They would had finally found him from the edge of Agia Marina bar, gave him water and took him home safe alive at the time.:(

Cant believed disgusted tourists who saw Michael alive on last Wed, Thur and left Michael for dead if they visited Agia Marina beach in the last 5 days, they should be charged for voluntary manslaughter.

Oh god I cried read article, the time of Michael death was 4pm on last Wednesday. He had only 15 mins to lived when he was collapsed.

Why on earth tourists who saw Michael collapsed at 3.44pm didnt raised the alarm to alerted others and staff rushed to him? They would had the chance to saved his life as he was only 15 mins away from death by 37C heat.

RIP Michael Mosely

I hadn't really heard of him until recently but he was a familiar face on TV. He seemed to give some good advice and it's sad to see some of the old guard gone along with the recent loss of the Hairy Biker Dave Myers.

From reading the statement from his wife I find this wording very strange though. I don't see how that is a better outcome than if he got half way through the walk.

taking comfort in the fact that he so very nearly made it

This sounds a bit horrible. Sounds like he was really struggling towards the end and it wouldn't have been pleasant :(

"Over there in the mountains, like 30m from the place where we found him, he started crawling a little. And then the distance of 30m, which a normal person could do in two minutes or five minutes, took him half an hour or more," he said.

"So he's still crawling over and then he fell, passed out exactly in the place where we found him."

Are you from Glasgow by any chance?

Obviously you can suffer an accident or violent death at any age, but perceptions of a full life clearly differ. I've been to a total of three funerals in the last two years for relatives of mine, all three of which were in their nineties.

67 seems a young age for Mosley to go in this way, unless of course he already had something seriously wrong with him.
Supposedly the temperature in the hills where Mosley collapsed/became unwell was around 47C according to the Guardian (10C higher than at sea level). You don't need anything wrong with you to get into huge trouble in those exceptional conditions.
